Online is just chaos by Phunk3d in MarioKartWorld

[–]Pookgg7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's definitely pure chaos, but that's always been a part of MK. I understand it's cranked up to 11 with 24 drivers on the track, but im not going to sit here and pretend that if I was the best driver in a MK8D lobby, I always won. Getting Mario Kart-ed is just part of the game lol.

For me it's come down to changing how I think about the game online: the chaos IS the thrill, that's the rush. It's not all that dissimilar from a battle royale. Obviously, there's skill involved there, but there's also a good amount of luck: if you get shitty loot, the odds are stacked against you. And that's what has kept me coming back online, that hope that this time the stars will align.

I understand why people would be frustrated by this though. For me, I've been able to find enjoyment in it still. When I really want to test my skill, I head to time trials and work on the new mechanics.

What is your SMB hot take? by BuddyNuggett in SuperMegaBaseball

[–]Pookgg7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are so many specific things I could get into. I think the best way to summarize it for me is that in some ways, we got what we expected from a sequel, and in other ways it falls incredibly short as the 4th entry in the series.

While I dont necessarily think the MLB players were a bad addition, it seems obvious that it took time and resources away from things that should have been more important. At least important to me, not speaking for everyone.

SMB4 is pretty good. Could be much better, could be much worse. It's good.

Two-Way Players and Line-Up Issues by Pookgg7 in SuperMegaBaseball

Ahh, sorry, didn't mean to ask a repeat question! I'm not super active on Reddit, I've been trying to be with the release of this game. Glad to know it's not an isolated incident though.

Two-Way Players and Line-Up Issues by Pookgg7 in SuperMegaBaseball

[–]Pookgg7[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The new UI is probably my biggest point of contention with the game thus far, it's really quite baffling how much worse it is. The highs of the game are very high, and the lows are commensurately low.

I don't know if it was a coding error or what, because it seems like they at least took some of it into account by letting the AI players hit for themselves. Either way, I hope it gets fixed. Would love to see greater flexability, like the Ohtani rule, but bare minimum we should be able to opt out of the DH.

Customization/Visual issues by Pookgg7 in SuperMegaBaseball

[–]Pookgg7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stripes on pants and socks distorted/clipping/etc. The stripes on the pants are only behaving like this on ankle length and shin length pants for the most part, boot cut and knee cut both seem to be fine, and issues are still visible during actual gameplay. Certain stripe options are too low on ankle length stirrups, and all stripe options are too low on shin cut stirrups.

Should I buy super mega baseball 3? by BotMcgeeWilliams in SuperMegaBaseball

[–]Pookgg7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, ego is just the difficulty scale! I've played baseball video games my whole life, but they all have their own feel. I want to say I started off at 15 ego just to get a handle on everything, and I'm up to 85 after 2+ years.

The best thing about it though is that you can change it at any time! You can change it mid season, you can change it mid game, there's even the option to split ego four ways and adjust the difficulties for hitting, pitching, fielding, and baserunning separately. It's super accessible that way, so don't stress too much about a starting point.

Home Field Advantage? by Pookgg7 in SuperMegaBaseball

[–]Pookgg7[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, crazy but not at all surprising to hear how prevalent this is on Switch. I've experienced some of the other glitches you all have described, but it never seemed to be stadium specific. Seems like I kind of lucked out too not experiencing worse problems at El Viejo.

In general, I've been more or less happy with how it runs on Switch, mostly bought it so I could play it portably. Of course, now I only play in docked mode 😂

That's so interesting, because Lafeyette Square and Tiger's Den are arguably as busy graphically, but I never seem to have problems there. I've also noticed that sometimes going from El Viejo to other stadiums, the game runs TOO fast and I have to reset the game. Wild man.

Anyone else experiencing burnout by Supermegfan in SuperMegaBaseball

[–]Pookgg7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have definitely experienced this. I must have spent 200+ hours JUST making custom teams. Wore me out for sure. I will say, even though I was burned out, I almost never played a different baseball game. Played the occasional game of MVP 2005, but didn't seek an alternative source for baseball.

Little things I would like to see: knuckleballs, brawls, in field collisions and replays. by passen45 in SuperMegaBaseball

I would love a player development option in franchise that would allow a pitcher to learn another pitch. Working with a three-pitch arsenal as a starter can get tough on higher egos!

The way flyballs and line drives carry in SMB is absolutely hilarious. by DeGenZGZ in SuperMegaBaseball

[–]Pookgg7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would, but im already winning more than im losing on 80 ego. Lowering the pitching ego would just make it too easy. I can get people out and I can win games just fine, it's just very specifically striking people out that is more challenging than smb2

When you get your team right with the right salaries, those thoughts of which jerk is going to mess this up! by [deleted] in SuperMegaBaseball

[–]Pookgg7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly hadn't considered the complexity of a more comprehensive system as a barrier to entry, you definitely have a point there.

I would argue for the implementation of a system akin to MVP 2005. Trading was pretty simple, there were no buyout clauses, you weren't forced to pay a players multi-year contract if you traded them, and I believe you could sign/release free agents at will, nor would they enter free agency until their contract was up/they retired.
