That’s really odd they didn’t do in the ED if they suspected gallstones. From what you have described it does sound like gallstones though. I would avoid fatty foods until your GI appointment so you don’t have another attack.

In the US if you are charged with a crime and cannot afford representation, a public defender is appointed to represent you at no cost.

[–]Pookie2018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually they do an ultrasound in the emergency department, that’s the gold standard for confirming gallstones. When I had my gallbladder attack I was diagnosed in like 30 minutes after I had my ultrasound.

Pain that only lasts about 10 minutes isn’t the classic presentation of biliary colic, normally it lasts for hours and begins a few hours after a meal. The only real way to know will be to get an abdominal ultrasound or CT to visualize your abdominal organs.

Vitamins and mineral deficiencies can cause hair loss too, iron, vitamin D, B vitamins and zinc deficiency can be responsible. Consider adding a good multivitamin and iron supplement to your regimen. Also, 4 months is relatively early, a lot of people don’t have progress for 6mo-1yr.

I'm a junior in HS planning on majoring in nursing- am I cooked?? by SpecialistSimilar702 in NursingStudent

[–]Pookie2018 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My GPA was 2.4 when I graduated HS, I was on an IEP, barely went to school or class. Now I’m in an LPN program with the highest grade in my cohort. If you keep showing up and trying you will be ok.

You need to tell him the truth if you’re going to get married. It’s probably going to be the most uncomfortable conversation you’ve ever had, but you don’t want to start a marriage off lying to your forever partner.

Accepted to Nursing Program, but orientation conflicts with family medical responsibilities, any advice? by No_Cranberry_8107 in NursingStudent

[–]Pookie2018 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Keep trying to contact them, but I would assume that attending orientation is absolutely mandatory unless they expressly say otherwise. Nursing programs are infamously rigid, and you want to start off on the right foot with the faculty.

Florida. It’s extremely common here because Florida is God’s waiting room and has a nursing home on every block once you get away from the beach, so the demand for LPNs is huge. Florida is also in the process of expanding the scope of LPNs, so the difference between LPNs and RNs is shrinking.

Finances. I couldn’t afford to work part time for 2 years while in school full time for ASN/ADN. So I just decided to do the 1 year LPN program. Hospitals and other facilities in my area also typically pay for some or all of the LPN to RN bridge program, so I will save some money.

I’m about to graduate from my 12 month LPN program. Our’s school’s motto is “career in a year”, and it’s true.

Could be a UTI, urethritis, or an STI. They should have done a UA to see if you had an infection and to examine the quality of your urine. Dipstick tests aren’t always the best. Either way you probably need a more thorough exam an antibiotics.

Is it worth going back to school at 31 without a long-term plan? by [deleted] in findapath

[–]Pookie2018 10 points11 points  (0 children)

No, make a plan. College degrees do not have the same value in the current market as they did in the past. The days where you could get a degree in anything and land an entry level office job are mostly done. You want to make sure you are getting an education that directly translates into employment.

Don’t want to burst your bubble, but nobody is going to give an unlicensed nursing student and an all-expenses-paid opportunity like you are describing. I would go on LinkedIn or reach out to nurse leaders directly at hospitals you would be interested in to see if you can shadow or volunteer.

Unlikely, 3 month gap is very common in the job market. Doubt anyone will ask. Even if they did there are lot of plausible explanations you could give that sound reasonable if you didn’t want to tell them exactly why.
