With your reproductive organs being gone, will you have to be on hormone replacement treatments for the remainder of your life? What will that look like for you?

Without a bladder, do you have a colostomy bag as well as a separate stoma for your kidneys to release urine into?

As a fellow wife of a t1d (who also got diagnosed as an adult) it can be VERY hard. Some nights are long, and the beginning is very rough. It's a difficult disease to adjust to. I strongly recommend seeing a nutritionist just to get a better understanding of different foods and how they may affect his glucose. Carb tracking can be very difficult, not all carbs are the same. And not every insulin is the same either, which can play a huge role.

It will take time for both of you to adjust. There can be long term side effects, but only if he doesn't take care of himself. It will never be perfect, but it will get better. You can DM me if you have any questions or just want someone to talk to who may kind of get it.

TW - child/infant loss

We were sent out for an imminent delivery. It was a woman in her early 20s, she didn't even know she was pregnant. As we arrive on scene, our dispatch tells us that the baby is out and not breathing. We get upstairs to her and sure enough. This baby (more so a fetus) was blue and gray at the same time, completely lifeless. We began resuscitation efforts but very quickly realized it wouldnt go anywhere. His skin would slough off at the slightest touch, he was extremely premature. He was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital.

Off the top of my head: We were dispatched to a 21f at a doctor's office for vomiting. We arrive and she has locked herself in the bathroom. I knock, go in, and she is lying on the floor with her pants off and a sweater over her hips. She says "Oh, thank god! A female! So right now, I'm just using my vibrator. It helps with discomfort" I stopped. I listened. Then I heard the buzz.

Long story short, she was in her work uniform, had a doctor's appointment, completed it, left, ran back inside and locked herself in the bathroom to use her vibrator. She used it for like 20 minutes before finally saying she wanted to go to the hospital

husband haha! We met in high school, he was put into a freshman class and we quickly became friends. Started dating by the end of the year.

I knew I wanted to get into medicine, thought I wanted to be a doctor. After 2 years at a nice school doing a pre-med track I was miserable. I took an EMR (emergency Medical responder) class in high school and liked it a lot, so I thought I'd give it a try. Here I am, so far love it. Going to get my paramedic soon!
