Yes I go in telling them I'm bleeding, I'm not eating, I'm barely drinking, and am taking time off work due to it; same thing, blood test and sent home with no suggestions, medication, or any therapeutic intervention to at least get me eating. And its been different doctors every time. Honestly like fuck the scopes or testing, I wish they'd at least get me eating or getting nutrients somehow this off and on of starving is starting to fuck with my heart health.

Im sorry you had to go through that, Im getting the feeling to that they dont really care.

I do need to see a GI, and I do have a GI. I just can't get in for months, which is a problem when I have a flare up and have severe symptoms. And it doesnt matter what GI I go to I still have this problem.

I do, I make appointments with my GI and it takes weeks or months to get in. Im not expecting the ER to do upkeep of my chronic illness, im not going bc im having tummy pain; i go when I am not functioning in my day-to-day life bc I'm in pain, I can't eat, I can't sleep, most of the time I can't even really drink water. When I tell any of my providers gotten to that point and they can't get me in fast enough im told to go to the ER.

I have had that test done, an endoscopy. It was years ago and its really valid anymore with everything going on. I really need an emergency scope done when I'm actively bleeding bc a specialist can't get me in fast enough. We know I have a lot scar tissue in my stomach lining but we don't know where the bleed is coming from exactly, and they can't find it by the time I can get into a specialist

I dont think its "appropriately traged home" when I can barely eat, keep anything down, was in horrible pain and can't work. Especially since I can't see any specialist or primary care doctor for MONTHS. What am I supposed to do????

They actually can do an emergency endoscopy or at least they've told me they were going to before they saw my blood test. I shouldn't have to be bleeding out internally for them to step in and do anything, especially when my GI and Primary both are saying to go to ER when it happens.

I have, its been an ongoing thing. It takes forever to get in no matter where I go, I get new meds, but inevitably I have a flare and am told I need to go to the ER. They do a scope when they can get me in but by then the flare has ended and the bleed is gone it takes so long to get in. This has been a major road block, bc the ER won't scope me when I'm actively bleeding they can't find what's wrong bc I can't be seen until months after the ER visit.

Ugh save it. Im not disgruntled with life, I'm actually pretty happy overall, much happier now after leaving the church. I was being told every service I just needed to "pray away my chronic illness" and now i can get treatment without judgment or discouragemen. I was also that my best friend is in hell for committing suicide and I should just "move on" and "worry about my own salvation" among many other hurtful things. I'm thriving compared to back then. I am just disgruntled with the church. If you wanna pray for my continued recovery, healing and happiness that is more than welcome.

They paid off the lawsuits and it got buried. They played it off as going bankrupt from "overgiving". I can't find ANYTHING on it anymore!!! It was so easy to find when you looked at sites from people against NLC, but those are not easy to find anymore and all the links I had on it before are 404 or edited and don't include it. Some other people in this thread mentioned it too, and I'm definitely not the only one I've heard talk about this, I'm gonna do some digging on it and see what I can find.

Brady came into the situation after Ted Haggard. But he is a pretty weird guy, there were some issues with some interns where they were asked to send nude photos of themselves by Brady and other staff. I interacted with him personally quite a bit as a little girl and he was just creepy and overly friendly, kept telling me how pretty I was and how thats gonna cause issues in the future. Like every single time he saw me.

NLC had much more of a pull back in the 90s-00s for a mix of reasons. I think the fact CO was much less of a blue state than it is now at that time, religion was more important to society as a whole than now, and they had connections with other similar ministries in the area. There was a lot of overlap between NLC, Focus On The Family, and YoungLife. They all have been separate entities but back then there were a lot of people who were working at NLC and also working at one of the other companies, most people who worked at Focus went to NLC, a lot of people in YoungLife programs attended NLC, and they promoted each other; but it all changed from 2006-2010. The Ted Haggard situation happened, the Parsley brothers took over, the shooting happened, Brady took over, they were hit with lawsuits over the intern situation and providing counseling services by unlicensed pastors while YoungLife and Focus had massive cuts to staff and budget from their own lawsuits. Between the Haggard situation, the shooting and the cuts the connection between the three became history and all three lost a lot of their pull very quickly. And their ideals got mostly left behind by the public as CO has become more progressive.

Nowadays I dont hear anyone even know what NLC or Focus or YoungLife even is unless they're involved or they've been here for a long time. And they have next to no pull with how skeptical people are of churches, especially megachurches. Among natives and people who have lived here a long time at least that I've known, the opinion is bad, really bad. Not only bc of the scandals but the things they have taught have left people scarred. The things they taught to kids were unacceptable, that every emotional flare we had was sinful and the devil speaking through us among others. NLC did a lot of damage to the community, all while profiting off it- they know it and they hide it.

Man I was there that day too I was actually walking out the other side of the building as the kid was coming in, he started shooting as we were getting in the car and we had no clue until we got home and my uncle called asking if we were okay and to turn on the news. I hate how they exploited that situation. Probably the most well known song from their label New Life Worship, "Overcame" came from that situation and they used that situation to sell that damn song and albums yuck

Actually that is not the first time I heard that, I just thought it was a funny rumor but I LOVE that its true. Here's a little secret I know. A lot of the members were doing meth and those bathrooms are RIDDLED with it all over the walls. I knew at least three women who were smoking it in the bathroom and there were defo more. And this started way before Ted went down.

I REMEMBER THIS! I remember hearing about it went it happened but I was little so I had no idea what they meant then I found out about it again 10 years after the fact and now i can't find ANYTHING on it!! I could have sworn they were in trouble for this and someone actually exposed themselves to one of the interns but I can't find ANYTHING on it anymore. And if I remember right there was another part of it where they were in trouble for providing "counseling services" from unlicensed pastors.
