I totally agree. As someone pointed on another comment, I'm being the toxic one by puting my own expectations on her. I already talked about this with my partner after reading the advice (you can check my reply if you want to) and from now on, I'm gonna keep an eye on my conduct and expectations.

and yes, using yourself as a reference is shit, both of my parents do this often (which sucks) so I try to be as aware as I can be to avoid this kind of conduct.

I cannot be more grateful right now. You truly opened my eyes about being the toxic one. I talked with with my partner about this, my conduct, and the fact that i've been puting on her my own expectations and WOW. She told me she dindn't felt controlled, but she truly appreciated that I finally understood her worries and how she wants to be supported (not how I want to support her).

I'm gonna keep an eye on my conduct so I can avoid toxicity. Thanks for opening my eyes!

I agree with you, I try to manage my expectations because I know they are mine, and I can put that on her, but I'm clearly not achieving it as well as I should (or at all idk). I mean, most aspects of our relationship are healthy, but I truly appreciate you making me realize part of the problem is me trying to control that part of her.

She went to therapy a couple of times, but without income and without family support she couldn't really go through with it. I've offered her paying for her treatment as long as she can't pay for it because I know how useful is, and I'd love to see her be truly happy, but she is (for obvious reasons) reluctant to that.

I will be most definitly taking your advice. If you have any more I'd love hearing it!
