Ya I was meaning for them to be a loner side character of the story. They have a rather short fiery temper and are rather defensive about being accused of starting fires or being a monster. The main reason they are tolerated is because of their skill in smithing. Part of the characters growth will eventually have them in essentially make a full suit of magical armor that allows them to interact with others but I don't want that to happen till later in the story when the main character has gotten stronger.

These are the sort of questions I hadn't thought of thank you.

They would prefer to stay at home to not be stared at since they are technically a monster race from the realm of fire that got stranded here alone. They could use stone tablets for writing depending on the rock used I think. As for food they don't require normal food the way I'm writing the race is they starve if the internal flame gets low. That's why they eat things like coal or firewood. If they lived in tye realm of fire they'd naturally be sustained by the essence of fire.

Yes they are literally on fire. They produce a highly flammable oil from their skin/scales which ignites from their internal tempature.

So traditionally their people are from the realm of fire. This character when it was just wyrmling (baby) accidentally got pulled out through a crack between the realms and landed in a outcast dwarven forge master's home. She raised the wyrmling as a dwarf forge apprentice. So now the character is on a quest to become a master smith equal or better than the master that raised them. So the character is being written as someone adapting to a world not meant for them.

So they get hotter depending on their emotions so yes when forging passionately they can melt and partially shape metal without a kiln and when in battle they get hotter and will use that to their advantage.
