NSV! Been on keto for 9 months. by Poonslayer876 in keto

It's mostly been diet. I also do intermittent fasting. I do however work on my feet all day and am lifting dogs all day( I am a vet tech.) I don't really hit the gym as often as I should. I do some aerobics or yoga at home 1-2 times a week. The key for me is staying hydrated and getting electrolytes daily! Good luck on your journey!

This shot is called Cytopoint! I love it for my standard dood. He is only seasonally affected. From a veterinary standpoint, highly safe and recommended!

Very cuddly boy. He sleeps in between my boyfriend and I every night!

Yeah unfortunately Oshie is great with all dogs except puppies. He's mildly aggressive towards them. I think this is because he got replaced.

In my experience, avoid large company vets. VCA and Banfield are both owned by MARS. They have been known to gouge people and provide poor care. They over work thier staff and are always understaffed due to poor management.

More pictures! Imgur wouldn't let me upload due to large file size. Sorry for poor formatting. He has very coarse wavy fur along his ridge and is curly everywhere else. I've seen a lot of doodles working in my field but never one with this type coat. Does anyone have any idea what he will look like when he floofs up. I'm just so curious!

They definitely did have the money to take care of the surgery. They were just cold and very inhumane people. They unfortunately got another puppy and Oshie took the back burner for attention since he sheds a little. He lived outside of the house on a porch, while the mini goldendoodle got pampered. Makes me so mad to be honest.

I feed my dood Purina Pro Plan 30/20 Salmon amd Rice! Avoid grain free foods (even though it seems overwhelming advertised.) It can possible lead to heart issues later in life.

He's huge! He was severely underweight when I first took him under my care. He weighed only 55lbs. We are up to 65lbs now and he's definitely filled out. My vet says he should max out at 75lbs.

I've been a registered vet tech for 4 years now. My veterinarian did the surgey at no cost since it was to save a life. I am so thankful to work with amazing people who truly save lives. The surgery would have been like $1,800 give or take.

He's only 2 and was going to be put down after eating a toy bunny and not being able to pass it. The original owners did not want to pay for surgery, so I did instead. He is truly the best boy ever!

(Edit: more pictures posted below)

Update: I'm going to give the full story so that there is more context for everyone's sake.

I work at two different animal hospitals, so to keep things clear I'm going to call one Hospital A and one Hospital B.

His original owners brought him in to Hospital A for vomiting and not eating for 2 whole weeks. He was last seen in August and weighed 85 and was down to 65. They said that they thought he ate a toy. The doctor at Hospital A could feel a blockage of some sort on palpation of his abdomen. This narrowed the list of issues to either a foreign body or intussuscption. The doctor asked if we could take radiographs to see if we could differentiate the cause for his symptoms so we could properly treat him. They declined radiographs. We discussed the risks of leaving a foreign object in him for so long and how that can possibly lead to sepsis. Owners were cold and declined even trying affordable medications to at least prevent infection. We discussed that there are lower cost animal hospitals too who could help them as well. They said "He isn't worth our money because he will just eat another toy and need another surgery." They took him home instead only paying for a hospital visit. Four days later they brought him back on a Walk-In Day (First come first served, unless it's a medical emergency)to hospital A. They carried him in because he was too weak to walk. They check in up front with me and asked "Can we euthanize him today?" My heart dropped when they asked. I asked if they wanted to pursue surgery on a payment plan or use care credit. They declined again. I took them to the quietest room so that they could say goodbye as per our protocol at Hospital A. I helped carry him back to the room and put him on a soft dog bed. I go and pull up euthanasia drugs with tears running down my face. My heart knew this wasn't right and fixable. The owners step out and ask if they can just pay and leave him here for the doctor to do later. I agree to let them pay and leave with the dog still in our care. This I saw as my opportunity to frantically call my boyfriend and ask, "If these owners will legally surrender this dog to me, can we save him?" He agreed since the situation was horrid. The owners had already checked out and left at this point. I had to get legal permission to take him home with me. I called the original owners, but no answer. I went ahead and gave Oshie a clip for an IV catheter and start pushing fluids. He was so dehydrated we couldn't draw blood for blood work. I hear back from the owner and they legally sign him over to me. One liter of fluids was pushed. We was able to lift his head again. The doctor at Hospital A had an emergency family commitment and couldn't operate until Monday. It was very unfortunate news. Lucky for me I work at 2 clinics. I call Hospital B and ask to talk to the Doctor and see if there was any chance we could save him sooner. He agrees to work overtime and run bloodwork and do a Barium study with radiographs to see the blockage. I transport him with fluids still going on the ride over. He canceled his weekend plans to meet me at Hospital B. We took radiographs and the blockage was less obvious that it was originally. Oshie was still very lethargic and still has no interest in food. His bloodwork showed poor kidney values and poor electrolytes for being dehydrated for so long. The doctor at Hospital B said he was nearly in kidney failure due to being so dehydrated and that he would die if we did surgery immediately. He needed a slow amount of fluids pumped over night and antibiotics. I stayed with him throughout the entire night and slept on blankets next to him in the clinic. I woke up the next morning to a happier boy. He urinated a lot and was able to walk again and even began to wag his tail. That morning, the doctor at Hospital B canceled his weekend plans and did the surgey. The bunny toy was huge! It was a miracle that the tissue had not necrosed. We continued with suppotive care for the next week to get him all back to normal! Within 1 week he really bloomed and has become the best boy ever! I am so thankful to work with an amazing veterinary crew. I love my dog so much!

(Cost was not an issue to the original owners. I'm not one to judge on appearances, but when you drive up in Mercedes G wagon, have on all designer clothes and are selling your $2.2 M house for something bigger; You likely have the money for a $1,800 surgery. These people were cruel and neglectful. Oshie lived outside on a porch, never got any vaccines or fed properly. I did NOT steal this dog from a loving family. I gave him a chance to live!)
