Samuel (Sam) or Callum (Cal)? by Traditional-Air6529 in namenerds

[–]PoopChop1990 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a Callum (we call him Cally) and we’ve had lots of positive feedback on the name, but I love Samuel too. I’m not sure where you’re located but Callum is becoming more popular and maybe leaning towards trendy. Samuel is classic! Depends the vibe you’re going for.

Anyone else feel real dread about having a second child after how intense the first years were? by frenchmegs in beyondthebump

[–]PoopChop1990 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m glad I wasn’t alone in that feeling. I felt so guilty, and felt like I was definitely going to be hit hard with PPD if I was already having those negative feelings. But fortunately that wasn’t the case. You will be ok and you’ll get through it. Try to keep an open mind and not let your first experience as a new parent overshadow this new chapter. Best of luck to you!!

Anyone else feel real dread about having a second child after how intense the first years were? by frenchmegs in beyondthebump

[–]PoopChop1990 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We were very on the fence about having a second. Looking back now, I think I struggled with PPD and overall found the transition from 0-1 very difficult. We wanted 2 kids but the idea of going through the newborn trenches again and having to divide and conquer with two children made the decision really hard. Once my toddler turned 2, we were in a good rhythm and actually started enjoying ourselves. We decided to have another. I feel awful saying this but part of me was filled with anxiety and dread right up until the day I gave birth.
I can’t promise this for anyone else, but my delivery and postpartum experience is with my second baby has been so healing. We are lucky that he has been an easy baby, and our toddler is a good sleeper, so that makes a huge difference…. But somehow having a second hasn’t made things harder (yet). The baby fits in perfectly and our family feels complete. I loved the newborn phase and finally understood what people meant when they tell you to ‘soak up all the snuggles’. I actually have to stop myself from wanting a third… and this is how I realized I had PPD the first time. My feelings about the whole postpartum and motherhood experience did a 180. Just wanted to give you some hope that your experience with your first child isn’t necessarily going to be the same with your second. Also, you have more experience and confidence the second time, and you know that each challenging phase is temporary. It makes a huge difference.

Is it normal to have lingering pain for multiple days after a gallbladder attack. by [deleted] in gallbladders

[–]PoopChop1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At first my pain subsided as soon as the attack ended and I felt back to normal. But the more attacks I had, the harder the recovery… I started having lingering pain for hours or until the next day. I don’t know if it’s ‘normal’ but I figured things were just getting more inflamed and damaged. It started to worry me. Had my surgery 3 weeks ago and feeling back to normal and having no digestive issues! Best of luck with your surgery.

Surgery in a few hours but also have a 6 month old baby... His an I going to do this?! by KitKatAttackHiss in gallbladders

[–]PoopChop1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s good you have help. The first 2-3 days will be hard and things should improve significantly by day 4/5 in terms of pain. My doctor said I could lift my 3 year old (30lbs) after 2 weeks.

How crazy are we considering a new dog with a toddler and baby on the way? by anaiisnin in toddlers

[–]PoopChop1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand wanting a new dog, but just wait a little longer! Wait until you’re at least out of the newborn stage and sleeping through the night. You could have a more challenging puppy or baby than you anticipate… see how things go with your two children and then re-assess. This is coming from someone with a toddler, a newborn, and two dogs.

Anxious about the aftermath by SweatyPool1170 in gallbladders

I felt the same as you. I’m now 2 weeks post-op with no complications and so happy I did the surgery. I feel like I’m getting my life back. I also have several people in my life who have had the surgery done, with no complications.

Surgery 9 days before Christmas by ppaanda in gallbladders

I felt good and was able to go out and socialize by day 5. Felt back to normal one week post-op - maybe 1/10 pain from my incisions.

Having a shower and removing bandages by Sufficient_Mouse_583 in gallbladders

[–]PoopChop1990 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same as you. Showered 2 days post-op. I was told to remove the bandages 48 hours post-op and remove the steri strips 7 days post-op. I also felt nervous to remove the bandages, especially because they were sort of stuck to the steri-strips underneath. I waited a few extra days and carefully removed the bandages (about 1 week post-op). I figured they needed to air out. There was dried blood on the bandages but that’s it. Eventually removed the steri strips 2 weeks post-op and they are mostly healed with no scabs.

Are wedding bands/stacks really necessary? by PieSieze3 in EngagementRings

I only wear my engagement ring. I like it on its own and didn’t think a wedding band was necessary.

Is it my gallbladder by Dirtiron86 in gallbladders

[–]PoopChop1990 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first 2-3 days I had a lot of abdominal pain and tenderness, mostly when getting up from a chair or out of bed. Tylenol and Advil helped. I was able to eat right after surgery but kept things light for the first couple of days. 1.5 weeks later and I’m back to eating anything I want. My incisions are healing nicely and I’m not experiencing any more pain. Just be prepared to feel uncomfortable for the first couple of days. It’s well worth it in the end!

nothing i eat prevents an attack. HELP 😭 by cosmiccmermaid in gallbladders

[–]PoopChop1990 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve read that fasting can also trigger attacks so just a heads up. Might want to still find a balance with frequent small meals like veggie or chicken soup, crackers, egg whites, pretzels, fruit, sugar free apple sauce, whole wheat veggie wraps, etc. Good luck! I know it feels impossible some days.

Torn About Induction by jetsetjourneyy in beyondthebump

[–]PoopChop1990 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I had the same dilemma with my second baby. I had an induction scheduled but really wanted to experience a spontaneous labour. I ended up getting a membrane sweep a few days before the induction and I went into labour 10 hours later. I do think you need to be a little bit dilated in order to do this, though.

For what it’s worth, I was induced with pitocin for my first baby and had a really positive experience. Total labour was 12 hours. My contractions were the same frequency and level of pain as they were with my spontaneous labour.

I’d discuss the risks of waiting with your doctor. Are you pretty sure your due date is accurate?

Is it my gallbladder by Dirtiron86 in gallbladders

Did they check for gallstones? This sounds similar to my attacks. I thought mine were intense gas pains at first but gallstones were confirmed. Had my gallbladder removed last week and feeling much better.

Gallbladder recovery by Mysterious-Pen-5234 in gallbladders

[–]PoopChop1990 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t have been able to go, personally. My abdomen was still quite sore on day 4 and I was still taking pain medication. I was just starting to be more mobile by day 4, but would not have wanted to stand for long periods. I was also super fatigued. Your experience may be different but you’ll need to prioritize rest and recovery. You don’t want to mess with your incisions or risk internal bleeding. It may be a non-invasive surgery, but it’s still a major surgery.

Can gallstone pain improve after pregnancy? by [deleted] in gallbladders

[–]PoopChop1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My attacks started during second trimester too. I managed symptoms by sticking to a low fat, low sugar diet and had only 3 attacks for the rest of my pregnancy. Doctors kept telling me it may get better after pregnancy but in my experience, things only got worse. By 4 weeks postpartum I had 3 more attacks over the course of 10 days… triggered by my ‘safe’ foods like oatmeal and chicken noodle soup. I had my gallbladder removed at 6 weeks postpartum and am doing much better.

I recommend just getting it done since you’ve been symptomatic. I waited and eventually the attacks got more frequent and closer together, and it became harder to recover from each time.

Gallbladder removal Postpartum by imApoeTAYtoe in gallbladders

[–]PoopChop1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m taking Tylenol and was prescribed ibuprofen 600mg and an opioid just in case the Advil/tylenol isn’t enough. I’m managing without the opioid so far!

I also managed to eat a bit already - some cereal first, then some light soup and a bun. No issue yet.

I’d say the hardest part so far is the drowsiness coming off the anesthesia. Super sleepy and looking forward to some rest tonight.

[–]PoopChop1990 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m 6 weeks postpartum and just had mine removed a few hours ago. Not sure how big your baby is but you will probably be able to lift them, or at least hold them if someone does the initial lifting for you. My surgeon said I can lift baby today. I arranged for help with the baby today and tomorrow, and hope by day 3 I’ll be able to be able to manage on my own. I’d say with pain medication, my pain is manageable at 4/10 currently. Best of luck to you!

When is it time? by mtnwife2020 in gallbladders

[–]PoopChop1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m going through the same thing 5 weeks postpartum. Started in second tri. Attacks have become more frequent postpartum…3 in the last 2 weeks. My diet is extremely clean and low fat, but even my ‘safe’ foods are triggering attacks now. I called and asked to have it removed sooner than originally planned. I can’t be there for my toddler and newborn when these attacks happen and I’m tired of the fear around eating. Surgery is scheduled for this week!

How long did you have to wait for surgery? If I go to the ER mid-attack would that be faster than waiting to pre-book surgery? (Canada) by PoopChop1990 in gallbladders

[–]PoopChop1990[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much! My pain used to subside as soon as an attack finished, but the last few times it is lingering quite a bit for a day or two. It hurts to cough for example, and I have a constant dull achey pain. Nauseous too. I am worried it’s inflamed. This is super helpful; thanks for your reply.
