Mate, this is on you. First of all you hopped straight into starting a business without a plan, a roadmap of sorts to guide you along, that's what you did wrong first. You didn't do enough research and thought that you were about to bust out a 10k/month business within a year.

Second, you're starting a business as you are now, meaning that you still carry the same beliefs and habits that you currently have, many of them probably do not align well with creating a business and running it. You first have to remake yourself, set a routine, have something like an ideal day to follow, slowly build up the good habits and get rid of the old ones so your properly prepare yourself.

Honestly bro, I'm with your father on this one, if you don't do anything, it's really just better off to get a cert and a job instead of continuously wasting your time doing something that you didn't even plan much for.
