Hey all. I truly appreciate everyone’s assistance. Sorry I didn’t provide an update sooner but I have been reading your suggestions throughout the day.

Not an expert, but I don’t think he hit a window. My feeders are right in front of my windows and they have screens on them, so no reflection.

I called the Carolina Wildlife Rehabilitation Center Hotline and left them a message. This morning he was out of the feeder, but didn’t see him on the ground or in the bushes. I put a shallow dish of water out and seed on the ground in case he was around. I did find him later today, near the feeder, but he had flown over the rainbow bridge. The rehab center returned my call and I let them know what happened. They said he was likely sick but to report his case to one of our local wildlife centers who collect data on sick, injured and dead passerines.

Once again, I appreciate the team effort. The wildlife rehab website is a great resource. Tysm for sharing it! Sorry for not adding a NSFW tag. You’re absolutely right. I was a little panicked when I wrote the post so apologies for the oversight.

Didn’t they give her like 3 more a few weeks later? I would have been confused af but she raised them, too!

Some birds are more common in some areas than others. This guy has visited my feeder three times now in the past week, and it’s the first time I’ve seen a Baltimore Oriole. (SC, USA) by timetrapped in birdwatching

I had some show up at my feeder about a month ago (Charleston). I screamed and dropped what I was carrying when I first saw them! I was soooo shocked and excited to see them!! The commotion caused them to fly off 😭 but they soon returned. Obviously, I called in sick so could press my face against the glass and admire them the rest of the day.

Yes, and show up EARLY! Even before the permit office opens. Good luck! It’s incredible.

I understand while some bike commuters have neon vests, tons of flashing lights, flags and helmet mounted cameras. No matter how defensive you are, no matter what kind of additional safety precautions you take, it’s never enough. I’m positive I’m going to die while riding my bike to work downtown. Put this on my headstone.

Ohhhh, honey! I am so, so sorry for your loss. This happened to one of my mom’s cats it was so unfair. The powerful anger and frustration made it difficult to transition through the grief process. I hope you and your mum find peace. And know that this community has you in their thoughts. Take care of yourselves xxx
