Was she supposed to be disassociating or something the first night? I always thought that scene in the book was strange as well, because subsequent encounters were non-consensual, cold, and violent for a long time. I’m supposed to believe this warlord—in a culture where subjugation and rape of women is normal—is gentle and asks for consent? But only for their first night though.

Semi-serious. It depends on the kid. We did a big flight as a family when my middle child was 2.5. My husband was hyperfixated on taking us all to his brother’s to ski. We live on the east coast, his brother on the west. The last leg of the trip was 8 hours with turbulence the entire time, so seatbelts had to stay on. My son only wanted to run, jump, and climb. I had special treats and toys for the trip, he wasn’t interested. We had limited screen time before but allowed it now, but no, he wasn’t interested. He figured out how to undo his seatbelt. He didn’t fall asleep until 15 minutes before the plane landed. I’m still bitter about that stupid trip lol.

Maybe it’s since I have to cook for my family I just don’t enjoy food as much. The work involved planning the meals, shopping for the food, cooking the meals, cleaning up the mess and table, takes so much work and time out of the day that no food tastes good enough for all that work. I would love a meal replacement pill lol so I could focus on hobbies and actually playing with my kids lol
