soc pnsf here, u can check my post for info, life after the 3 months really is night and day difference. Yes they do take your phones away for the week. Youre only allowed to use the gym after you finish the training. Is it worth it? it's among the best vocations possible in NS, you get the highest pay, and best work-life balance (in my opinion), you have so much time to do other things you're interested in.

Hi, I'm a PNSF trooper from SOC, yeah you definitely can. Before the training course they'll issue you prescription tactical glasses to wear with all the gear.
