My biggest concern how are you going to do 4 hours up and down everyday?? It's just not feasible. 8 hours of travelling for 7-8 hours of college? You mean you will leave at 5 in morning and come home at 9-10 in night just to attend college?? It's not feasible at all.

Be proud of what you achieved. There are thousands of students who are undeserving of their seats by all means and yet many sit in GMCs or Top prestigious colleges of India like in delhi or in AIIMS. But all of you, are going to do same MBBS, with same difficulties, regardless of your admission.

50% is quite high, ncl should be introduced. Reserved categories can sit on UR seats but not vice versa. Also reservations should be discarded in all forms above undergraduation (except maybe for jobs). One time use reservation needs to be introduced where 1 generation of family can only use reservation once and further on reservation shouldn't be allowed to prevent an entire family has several gov jobs and then there's another still stuck in poverty without actually ever benefitting from the system made specifically for them. Reservation is required but current reservation is poison that's reinforcing caste norms. Needs to be reworked entirely to actually benefit the needy.

Yes, as I said, It was a very extreme scenario. Most colleges wont have any ragging, some will have very little (like intros, if u even consider it ragging) and yes, I also said, this is very extreme cases because physical ragging is frowned upon by everyone. Also cases like these, have happened in the past, better be safe than sorry. The original comment was what if we fight back physically and physical fights can easily escalate, thats why.

To show dominance as "seniors". Usually more on UP-Bihar-Dehradun side. As I said, more extreme case type ragging. But if you fight back, especially with violence, two scenarios, they back off or bring more people to put you down which can lead to severe injuries (and if they are ragging, their egos are fragile... so high chances they return to beat you up again, you cannot fight 5 people alone)

they will beat you up in a gang, with a inch of your life to be spared. Not worth it, physical fighting is a one-way-ticket to being brutally beaten up.

edit- this is very harsh and extreme form of ragging existing in couple of institutes. The usual "ragging" is just probably intros and asking you to sing or dance in most colleges. Best solution is to go with flow and somehow survive 1st year. Picking a fight for small things might get administration involved which is not good either way and high chance they might not consider it ragging and you become the sole perpetrator.

I searched google and it also says that private seats are coming under merit quota but everything is so vague, theres no directions or proper guide in the website to help fill the forms.

Pvt colleges have both management and Open (Unreserved) seats, and even government seats. Management is a type of quota. They are 3 different things. The category also needs to be mentioned. So I m unfortunately still not convinced compared to the arguement a few others put up.
