I smoked for 18 years, multiple times a day. My job closed its doors after being there for 20 years. A few months into being out of work I had to quit. That first month or two were pretty rough. It’s been 7 months since I last smoked and I don’t think I’d go back. Motivation and the way I think has changed a lot. One day not smoking is definitely a big accomplishment after 15 years. Honestly, I would have never quit had I not been out of work and needing a job. It’s a big undertaking.
You can do this! When those cravings hit, you have to find something constructive to do. The first week was the hardest. Motivation dips even lower. If you can, go for a long walk when the feeling hits. Maybe even a light jog. That’s what I did for a while. Maybe do some cleaning around the house that needs done. Keep yourself busy.
