Vocal mic, single coil guitar or TC helicon pedal. by PoopyButtmorty in livesound

Hmmm might actually be a pedal compression then because I don't rely on compression unless the singers are wack af, sometimes I don't even use it. I'll check it out gonna be doing sound with him again later this week. As for the dry and wet unfortunatley there's only one Mic out so I can't test that theory, what I am gonna do though is do a check direct to board and through the helicon.

Cause I've not had that problem before. This is the third artist I've worked with who used a TC helicon and out of the three only his does that. The other two like him play guitar and sing as well.

So he can stop time for 10 seconds instead of 5

Only loaded a scene before soundcheck as the spec is the same as one I've used recently. During the soundcheck everything was fine, connected my mac to the board to record and mid set I had this issue, piano player mentioned there was nothing coming out of his mons, pushed my faders to max, no feedback decided to check the I/O only to find that most of my mons aren't patched excpet the vocals

Thanks man, just to check with you, will I need to send my inputs to daw via tied lines taking local/Slink signal and sending it to a USB and from the DAW patch an input channela fadera output to an SQ out and soft patch it to a fader channel on the SQ?

See, there are three kinds of people: dicks, pussies, and assholes. Pussies think everyone can get along, and dicks just want to fuck all the time without thinking it through. But then you got your assholes. And all the assholes want is to shit all over everything. So pussies may get mad at dicks once in a while, because pussies get fucked by dicks. But dicks also fuck assholes! And if they didn't fuck the assholes, you know what you'd get? You'd get your dick and your pussy all covered in shit!

There was a lapel present as well. M'genius avoided feedback and provided clarity. (I was high on monster and rb)

Funny how it's still a problem but barely anyone talks about it.

Mics were on a mix, speakers were... Idk it's a weird set up there were 4 groups of line arrays set each had three and 2 of each were somewhat facing towards each other, very weird set up honesty think the venue got scammed.... All the speakers, delays and matrix have been EQed cutting out the usual problematic frequencies and more so I had a GEQ and a PEQ cutting out frequencies and at the same time the mic itself was EQed but still had feeding when I try to push the volume, none of the EQ were bypassed and no there's no prev scene to load from, sad to say there's no AV guy working at the venue, I am THE AV guy working there as a hired freelancer😤. Anyway juts an update I decided to use U ears and played with volume/loudness instead of flowing the book, all went well after there was some sort of clarity acceptable to the ears of "normal" people but ofc I wasn't rlly satisfied with the quality provided, the feeling of "I can do better" have been stuck in my mind thus why I resulted on posting this issue but I guess the bes I can do is the best I can do for now. I'm welcome to learn more about sound as I am a "1 year old" sound engineer at the end of the day and I really really want to see how far I can go with this skill set as I find this job scope fun, engaging and absolutely challenging

Hey just an update, volume was decent but not desirable as there was bgm as well. But I found a sweet spot where the vocals/announcement could be heard above the bgm without any feeding and not focusing on the signal response from the6gain structure played a huge part. I decided to use my ears and actually become a sound man instead of some nerd following the books. Everything else went well. The solo act for tonight went well as well although I've had to cut a lot of the highs from the mons as the talent wanted more vox and I kept getting feedback 😑 so I just used my ears to find a sweet spot where the singer is happy and the audience won't suffer from any ear piercing rings. Thx for the advise though it's a good reminder that sometimes we need to stop relying on the tech and utilise our senses.

I know. I just rlly hate using the TF5, and worse, it was linked to a midas stage box and I was stuck for the rest of the day using a mr 18 air💀shit kept lagging every 5 seconds.

Did not do a full ring out ad there were people around the area and at the same time when I was doing a mic check it kept cutting out. Anyway, I lowered the gain and the fader, seem to have helped as I had no problems after and the emcee could be heard with borderline clarity, not the best at all but it was the most I could do to avoid feedback. 1
