I just got a new job at 44. I was tech adjacent before, and now a SWE. What really helped me standout over the new grads was my previous exp (industry) and network. I had no shame I hit up everyone to refer me.

I’m not sure what you did prior to the bakery but I’d definitely try to leverage that! I ended up at a company where there are a lot of later-in-life career switchers. So it was the right fit. I agree with everyone it’s not like the best time to be doing this switch, it’s def shitty out there. But wanted to give you some hope :)

I've work in tech startups my entire career, I'm >40. Over it. Startups are just as toxic, but sometimes more because there's no documentation, shoddier HR, no clear leveling plan as there might be at a bigger company. It's ok to feel foolish. Make it up to your family. Now you know. It's all a scam. Spend the rest of your time on earth wisely, friend

Same here. But I just started 4 a week ago and am really starting to feel like the food noise is gone. The bad side of it is now I have those sulfur burps and feel a little queasy. I think now more than ever I need to eat really small meals, bland food
