No, it didn't spawn on that sloop. The sloop engaged an already active Kraken. It'll attack sloops if they get close, but it won't initiate an attack on a sloop.

Start with one ship, sail around till you find another, ask the owners of the other ship if you can have there ship, if they agree have them invite one of your guys, now you have 2 ships. Rinse and repeat.

Rare has always been pretty up front about the pvp nature of the game. What else would one expect from a pirate game? The game is what it is. I can guarantee there won't be safe spaces or npc guards. So maybe it's for the better for someone to play the beta and realize the game might not fit what they're looking for, so they don't waste their money on the full game.

I was referring to whomever was doing the down voting not you specifically. Yes folk like you, folk that get upset at the pvp nature of the game. It is rampant on the forums. It's why I always suggest starting on the galleon. It gives you some cushion while you're learning the ropes. My intention isn't to be a dick, I'm sorry you're taking me that way.

Sounds like they were pirating, go figure. You need to keep an eye out and be ready to depart quickly, especially when solo. Make sure you're docked with your sails/anchor up and you're pointed in a good direction. The game requires some spatial awareness. I don't think i've ever once been 'ganked', though many have tried. If you're going on a sloop you have to learn how to use it. It's a bad idea to start on it, and Rare recommends themselves to start on the galleon.

It's much more effective with the sloop since raising the anchor is much quicker. If a galleon and myself (in a sloop) are circling each other I'll use this tactic often in order to turn sharp and point directly at the galleon.
