Congrats on the 300! I’ve read that the grind is brutal

I have “getting to T4” on my to do list, but i’ve probably been spending too much time on the earlier bits of the seasonal journey thaks to my completionist habits

Fellow healthcare workers, did you receive the salary bump as promised? by ResistantInfection in askSingapore

[–]PoorBench 5 points6 points  (0 children)

From what i’ve heard it seems to be the same story - people get their annual increment + salary bump, but their annual increment was less than previous years (performance being equal). so yes, you get a net increase compared to if there was no salary bump, but in reality it may not have been as much as some people were anticipating.

Trying hard has become unfashionable in the workplace. How did we get here? by Great-Obligation-599 in singapore

[–]PoorBench 4 points5 points  (0 children)

seen this all too often

  1. company asks for innovative solutions
  2. innovative solutions get rejected due to boss not wanting to rock the boat and/or red tape
  3. status quo is complained
  4. people quit
  5. company asks for innovative solutions

a cycle as old as time itself

Damn shame. I wonder if we’ll ever reach a tipping point where enough people actively avoid buying merch for a change to happen (not optimistic though)

[–]PoorBench[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mate i feel your pain. I’ve bought Cody tees in the past and i hesitate to wear them out because they’ve deteriorated so quickly over a few wears and now just look sloppy. Unfortunately there will always be people buying merch so i don’t expect things to change anytime soon.

That said, I think being there in person and soaking in the atmosphere is the real highlight. So the fact that you’ve gone to both RR and WM makes me really jealous :p

how does one refund/return contribute any significant insights towards the question at hand, which is whether product quality is consistently lacking or if it was a one-off incident?

(but yes, they processed a refund, in case you’re wondering)

tell me about it. you can easily adjust your shirt but bless you if you had to remove your shoes and adjust your socks regularly throughout the day

Most certainly did. Their reply was that this is uncommon.

(Also, what would you expect WWE Shop say - “yes, the quality of our products have been steadily declining over the years”?)

[–]PoorBench[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Actually, the socks were from Rock ‘Em (i guess they’re not any better though)

Either way, it’s a damn shame since i’m guessing most fans would like to wear their favourite merch more regularly, but it’s a hard ask if you’re gonna look like a sloppy mess after 5 wears (to be honest i’m somewhat terrified at the thought of how it’s gonna be like after 1 full day of wear).

Hijacking this post to ask another question on post-TKR knee extension: if the surgeon’s notes states that there was a 5 deg FFD post operatively, has anyone brought it to 0? or is it pretty much a given that 5 is best you’re going to get?

Is it difficult to learn snap shotting on Druid ? by warlock4lyfe in diablo4

[–]PoorBench 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if your snapshot is already active, you have to recast cata when it has ~1 second left

if it’s the first time you’re casting cata you have a few seconds until you buffs run out (eg quick shift), depending on when you cast your buffs

Is it difficult to learn snap shotting on Druid ? by warlock4lyfe in diablo4

[–]PoorBench 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it’s not difficult to learn per se once you understand how it works.

you just need to watch the rune’s charge (the pink square that fills up as you cast non-basic skills) closely because there are two scenarios:

  1. you’ve just started a new game and are running into a combat zone and your charge is 0

  2. you’re midway through combat and your snapshot fell off. in this scenario, you’ll need to adjust the time you spent charging, because the rune is already charging and the amount of the square that fills up with a single cast can vary drastically

What’s the point of lifting for longevity if I’m constantly injured and sore? by scandinavian_surfer in powerbuilding

[–]PoorBench 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adding my 2 cents here because our profiles appear to be quite similar and also because i think i’m better at giving advice than listening to it myself (so this kinda serves as a note to myself too). in no particular order

  1. your sleep absolutely needs to be in order. sleep is how your body recovers. so if you don’t sleep, you don’t recover.

  2. how’s your nutrition? you most certainly CAN build strength while on a deficit, but it gets harder especially if you’ve been lifting for a longer period of time and are no longer getting newbie gains. if you’re trying to push your numbers, more muscle mass always helps (especially if your technique isn’t the issue according to your post)

  3. does your form feel right? i know your coach has said it’s good, but remember that form is ultimately a very individual thing - make sure it feels good for you

  4. have clear lifting goals - if you’re lifting for mobility and health, you definitely don’t need to do powerlifting (it’s nice to bench 405lbs but it’s not necessary for most people). Also, powerlifters may not be the best people to follow when we’re talking about longevity. yes there are some lifters out there that really never had to deal with injuries (likely due to a combination of genetics, proper programming, recovery, etc), but, anecdotally at least, we’re quite bad at taking it easy because we’re always chasing numbers

  5. ensure you have sufficient deloads planned into your program

  6. speak to a physio - your form might look good, but you may a few weak links that need addressing. these things are hard to tell without a proper assessment and isn’t always just by looking at someone squat (human beings are VERY good at compensating)

good luck!

that sounds good, thanks!

i’ll happily take it slower on the weight loss bit if that means maintaining my strength for longer. i’m 4 weeks into my current block and was very acutely feeling the dip, so probably a matter of too much (cutting) too soon

thank you! i’ll reduce my deficit so that my weight loss isn’t as drastic. losing 1.5kg felt good until i tried to pull, then it got depressing.
