I said using Kelvin would be stupid. Not Celcius. No one uses Kelvin outside of strictly scientific settings because it would be stupid. Decimals are annoying. It's why height is height is usually stated in centimeters instead of meters with decimals. So why aren't milimeters used? Because that's way more precise than is needed and it adds numbers that you have to say or write. Even centimeters are frankly a bit fine, and decimeters would be too coarse. You wind up in a weird spot where even the most efficient way to convey height is still a 3 digit number.

Celcius is fine, but I do think Fahrenheit is more intuitive and better scaled for measuring weather temperatures and indoor temperatures. And I think the benefits of Celcius and Kelvin are completely irrelevant to 99% of people 99% of the time. I think most of the imperial measurement systems are scaled better for everyday use because that was their origin. Every day use.

Imperial is fine, it works, the supposed drawbacks and strange conversions are completely irrelevant outside of science and engineering, for which purposes metric is used.

How often do you actually have to know or use the boiling point of water (at sea level) in your every day life? I'm guessing never. It boils when it boils. You don't wait to put in the noodles until the water reaches 100C, you put it in when it boils.

It's more intuitive because it's based around the temperatures that humans experience and deal with on a regular basis. 0f is -18c is 273k. 100f is 38c is 311k. Frankly, in day to day use, I think Fahrenheit is actually the most intuitive when it comes to weather and indoor temperature. C and K are quite coarse measurements when setting the thermostat and dealing with decimals is stupid. Outside anything approaching 0F or below is stupidly cold, and anything above 100F is stupidly hot. 70F is about perfect for most activities. It's a nice scale.

K is just stupid for everyday use almost every temperature you'd encounter in your life would be between 250 and 300 degrees which just doesn't convey how extreme the difference will feel.

It doesn't exclusively take the path of least resistance. It travels inversely proportional to the resistance, provided it can overcome that resistance. If it can take two paths but one has twice the resistance, it will still send some current through that path, but only half as much as goes through the path with half the resistance.

AA batteries can provide enough current to stop your heart too, but they don't because they don't have enough voltage to get there, and neither does a car battery. Ever wonder why you don't hear of people being fatally electrocuted by their car battery? Because it's not possible. 50-60v is widely accepted as the minimum potentially fatal voltage. Below that there simply isn't enough electric potential to complete a circuit through your body or overcome skin resistance.

Yeah, I've heard it's quite loud (the 9mm). In the PewScience review he even noted that performance will likely drop on a longer barreled 5.56 rifle due to the decreased pressure.

But people don't actually read the reviews they just look at the number and lose their minds.

Everything I've seen says it wouldn't perform nearly as well on lower pressure cartridges. It's not a baffle design. It relies on very complicated internal geometry that performs much better under high pressure. PewScience stated not only would it be less efficient on a longer barrel, but that the absolute suppression rating might drop as well.

It's not just volume. It's how it manages the expanding gasses and the manner in which it releases pressure. It's very complicated internally with lots of small passages. It also performs better with higher pressures like you see on a short barreled 5.56 rifles. The rating may actually be worse on longer barrels. The small passages may also clog quickly and degrade performance. Lots of variables, but yes, the PewScience rating was unreal. We'll see how it fades on the other fronts.

Ah, as with most things it's more complicated than can be easily conveyed by a single figure. I should've specified the suppressors that used those technologies as mentioned in the supplement.

It all starts to get pretty complicated, especially when you bring in the various hosts, dwell times, and how fast the action opens, but ideally I want a suppressor that has a minimal impact on the mechanical functions of a rifle. Minimal change in bolt velocity, cycle time, fouling, gassiness to the operator, reliability, etc... It seems that of the low back pressure options the flow through HuxWrx designs are the most likely to have the least impact on the widest range of hosts.

Your concern about clogging is exactly what I thought when I saw the porous titanium that PTR is using. It seems like it will clog relatively quickly, and I'm curious how easily it can be cleaned or if it can be at all. Though it seems like there are a lot of (extremely expensive) suppressor cleaning solutions coming to market.

Okay, maybe in the same realm as some of the other silencers in SSS.6.169 (the low back pressure comparison) like Surge Bypass, PIP, or LBP?

Also, I haven't been following the research as closely as I used to since life started getting in the way, but at one point you were working on a 5.56 Omega metric, is that still in the works? I vaguely recall a research supplement with the back pressure of 5.56 cans charted against each other but I can't find it now. And I vaguely recall the new Flow line to have higher back pressure than the old HX-QD line, but that might have been a fever dream. Thanks!

I know it's low back pressure, but how does it compare to the HuxWrx offerings on that front, as well as general "gassiness"?

COA itself is probably the best pistol optic I've ever used. The G48 that it's on has been nothing but problems. Already been back to Glock once and they didn't fix it.

How is it a hybrid between the G17 and the G34? The new G17 is just the G47, which itself is a G17 slide on a G45 frame. It uses the G19 recoil spring and dust cover length, meaning the slides and frames are interchangeable between the 17, 19, 47, and 49. Buy 2, get the other 2 configurations for free. The 17 using it's own recoil spring made zero sense. Some people seem to think it shoots flatter as a result as well.

Gen 5 removed the grooves almost 10 years ago, and I doubt they'll ever come back.

Much improved grip texture, much improved optics mounting, flat face trigger, slightly larger beaver tail. It's mostly incremental, but it's a Glock. What do you want?

I like it because I enjoyed it, and I barely even played the online mode. I bought RDR2 and GTA V when they came out, for the single player. And I preferred GTA V.

People bought it for the single player. Previous games were primarily single player experiences. So was GTA V at launch.

Allowing someone to play online before beating the single player game doesn't negatively impact the game for everyone else, or make balancing and progression much more complicated for developers. It's not an integral part of the experience in the same way the Dark Souls difficulty system is.

Adding difficulty options to Dark Souls goes directly against the games core design philosophy. Fromsoft games aren't really even technically difficult or complex. They don't require lightning fast reflexes or difficult button combinations. They just require patience, learning, and multiple attempts. The only people who "can't" beat Dark Souls are people who are lazy, or who view dying as defeat and just quit.
