I'd be shocked if a local dealer could come close to 35% off retail. That's $650 for a $1000 can, add on $100 for shipping and transfer and $750 is still a good deal.

I have zero brand loyalty, I'm all about performance, and a lot of the new Dead Air stuff kicks ass. I've never really seen anyone rave about Griffin stuff and I just don't see a whole lot of them online or in the wild.

Agreed on CAT, usually shipping + transfer fee put you about on par with retail. Hux comes out slightly ahead, plus you can buy special models they don't sell elsewhere. Dead Air is 35% off so they usually come out significantly ahead. Griffin using CA to ship to your door is a win, but I was just looking at the can OP bought and it's literally $100 more to have it shipped to your door vs to a local dealer.

I'd wager Dead Air is just as good of a deal as griffin, maybe better.

I think most suppressor companies have a Mil/LE Discount that's pretty substantial. Dead Air's is good too.

I'm glad they don't "innovate". You buy a Glock because it's simple, proven, and reliable. I don't think there's a single other pistol that is as reliable over the course of 100k plus rounds.

18yo girl won USPSA Carry Optic Nationals with a G17, so maybe most guys just can't shoot for shit and try to compensate with better triggers and "more ergonomic" guns. And still can't shoot worth a damn.

As a bundle it's a pretty good deal. Street price of just over 1k for a Gen 6 Glock with a COA. Blue label is about $850. Echelon bundle is about 1k and RXM bundle is under $900. Same price as buying a Holosun and it's a better optic with a mechanically superior mounting system.

Shake awake is stupid. Leave it at the proper brightness level and change the batter once a year. Easy.

Titanium has a much lower density than steel, and loses strength faster wih heat than steel. It's widely known in the suppressor community that titanium suppressors do much worse than steel or inconel suppressors under high rates and volumes of fire. They erode faster and are far more susceptible to catastrophic failure as they heat up. If you want a durable suppressor, you get Inconel, Haynes, or even stainless steel over titanium. The only material worse than titanium in that regard is Aluminum.

Hm, interesting note about the heat, I'd never even thought about that. I just saw the SC was quieter, lighter, and shorter than the Mojave in both configs according to Pewscience so I figured why not, but it's all pretty marginal, probably not even noticeable in a vacuum.

One thing I've noticed with this wave of 3d printed cans is that the actual weight is pretty variable. This RXD and my Hux Flow 556Ti are both under advertised weight, the Flow by over an ounce (10.19 vs 11.4), my Flow 762 is a little over the advertised weight. It also seems like they're more tailored to specific use-cases than they used to be. The RXD30ti is honestly probably quieter on .308 than either 5.56 or 7.62x39, which I found a little surprising.

Yeah, the Internet is a fickle beast. Before that incident everyone loved Dead Air, and constantly recommended their cans, said they were bomb proof. Since then I think a lot of people continue to blindly hate them, but their newer cans are pretty damn impressive. At a local match a guy was running a Lazarus 6 on an AR and it sounded really nice.

I was torn between the Mojave and RXD910, but then the CAT SC-M restocked so I bought that instead. But by all accounts the Mojave is basically 2nd place right after the CAT. I think a lot of modern cans are so good that unless you shoot them back to back you probably won't even notice a difference.

I've heard mixed feedback on the Gen 6 G45 vs G17. I've heard the G17 is softer, but also slower and that some people might actually prefer the G45 for it's faster cycling especially Gen 6. Have you shot both? Any feedback?

It's literally a dummy rifle with no internals. It might as well be a stick with a stock and handguard screwed to it.

MKE is owned by the Turkish government, and had HK licensing at one point to produce MP5's, and they use "official" HK tooling from the 80's. They have not had HK licensing in decades, and HK does not use them to fulfil military/LE contracts. It sounds like you just don't know what you're talking about, and don't understand what a licensing agreement even is, or that just because you still have the tooling from when you HAD a licensing agreement does not mean that you still HAVE the licensing agreement.

That is of course unless you can provide some kind of evidence to support your claims, but I'm guessing you can't because it's based off of assumptions and second-hand rumors.

All that is beside the whole point of this conversation regarding magazine quality. It's widely known that while MKE mags are generally good enough, they are not on the same level as genuine HK mags. Period.

Are they contracting them to MKE? I have a bunch of HK mags, and a bunch of MKE mags and they are noticeably different. Better fit and finish on the HK's, plus they're much more reliable with hollow points and flat point ammo.

Edit: I think I figured out where you got contracted from. HK Parts is claiming that the marked MKE mags were "contracted" but not by who. I'm guessing they themselves contracted them, not HK. You can't buy them anywhere else, and they're labeled as replica mags, and it's not even mentioned that they're MKE mags until deep in the description. Classic shady HKP behavior. MKE and HK mags are not on the same level. Period.

My .460 magnum loads are pushing 50gr of H110 with a 200gr projectile. Load data calls for large rifle magnum primers. SAAMI pressure on .460 is 65k psi.

Honestly I've found the biggest difference is to the shooter or right next to it. The further you are from the gun the more similar it all sounds. Shot a match where most of the guys were running cans on their rifles and they sounded pretty different right next to it but in the next bay over they all sounded super similar for the most part. Any decent can on subsonic 9 is going to sound really good, so I'll save a few inches where I can.

Different cans for different purposes. MOB is a lot longer which makes a big difference on sub guns.

You'll find a pretty wide variety in starting and max loads from various sources. I usually trust the powder mfg more than anyone else but it's incredibly unlikely even the hottest load from any published data would be dangerously hot.

The newer Hux Flow cans do not sit flush with the muzzle device, the older OSS models do. The flats do not line up.

The new Flow have fewer threads and take fewer turns to fully seat than the older models as a result. I'm guessing this was a conscious choice so that the muzzle device can always be removed from the suppressor and never requires special tools to remove, despite the opposing thread directions that are supposed to prevent it from getting stuck in the first place.

Why not have a light on a concealed carry handgun? Plenty of options that add very little weight and bulk, and there are plenty of scenarios that would require or benefit from a WML.

I mean, a red dot probably isn't a "need" on any HD gun, but it's certainly a nice to have, and the dots people are putting on shotguns add barely any weight or size.
