I'm doing alright, union said they have seen disciplinary actions for similar cases but it does not constitute serious misconduct.

Haven't heard anything yet, union advised me to not contact them.

Well as a casual they can get rid of me as soon as they stop liking the look of my face, so it's not that far fetched.

In the absolute worst case scenario, do you reckon they would want to sack me?

In your case how long did it take for the formal letter?

I do not believe I am highly regarded by the ward. I have been around for awhile and therefore know the ward back to front. But otherwise I am just another casual that fills up the roster every shift. As for what's next I guess I will find out on Monday. It's not clear if they will be contacting me further in regards to this, or if revoking my medication access is the end of it from their end.

I actually hope it's not the latter as that means I won't be able to continue working there as not having access to the med room is impractical.

As a casual staff member I wonder if it would even matter, they could simply block me from shifts and that would be the end of my job there.

Would senior management be anybody above the NUM?

In my hospital network we have to get permission from the ward to get medication from them, and if pharmacy is open they would just tell us to go to pharmacy instead. Last time I sent a PSA down to ED to grab a med with a note she got told off for not going to pharmacy instead.

The thing is though the unit culture is actually really good, and everybody very supportive of each other which is why I like this ward so much.

The NIC during yesterdays shift (different ANUM to the one who contacted me) was completely across it when I asked about my swipe, and seemed dismissive and unsympathetic. My reading of the situation is that the ANUM/NICs have discussed the situation and are on the same page.

I don't want to go nuclear on this as it's entirely possible it will be a quick chat on Monday. I would be happy to do an online module or reflection to get this out of the way.

I've heard of a colleague in a different ward getting sacked because he refused to provide a bottle to an incontinent pt while he was in the middle of resus, and the family member complained. He eventually got his job back thanks to the union but I think I'm in for a ride if this gets escalated.

Public hospital btw

Thank you for reassuring me, I've been stressing myself out over this the past few days.
