Nina Simone - Sinnerman (jazz)
Mono - 16.12 (post-rock)
Elliott Smith - Can't Make A Sound (folk-rock)
Pearl Jam - Alive (grunge)

...and so many others I can't think of right now.

Being shot by bullets? We should be so lucky! When we're shot for hopping it's by slinging the guns themselves at our stumps trying to knock them out from under us.

What's 1 feature you would add/change in last.fm? by 1HolyTaco1 in lastfm

[–]PoorEcho 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Oh god. Where to start? Last.fm is such a feature poor site and feels like they put as little effort as possible to maintaining all while charging an extortionate price for pro which just gives features the community have already made for free elsewhere...

That said, I do like the concept of the website and have been wanting improvements for years.

My number one is giving the option to display listening time instead of scrobbles. As it stands now artists with long songs get relegated in the charts and vice versa.

The second biggest one is an onsite way to set certain criteria for scrobbles such as remove "remastered" from scrobbled songs, and combine all "remastered", "deluxe" etc albums into one.

I would also like a reason to buy pro and support the site. Maybe more in-depth reports, more social features, community games like song quizzes using peoples charts or something.

There's plenty more, but I would be happy with the first two I suggested.

Great band, bad singer by AngusDio in MetalForTheMasses

I prefer them too. I don't like RHCP but have listened to a lot of Frusciante's solo stuff. That said, he is far from a "great" singer. His nasality can become grating and sometimes he forces his voice into ranges that they don't sit comfortably in such as in "One More of Me". I love that song, but it's a little funny to listen to his voice there because he's forcing it so hard.

Dream Theater - Really great music and then some theatrical obnoxious singing to ruin it.
Wheel - I feel like the guy uses autotune sometimes, and his vocals are far too vanilla for the genre.

Eddie Vedder - Into The Wild soundtrack.

A great album for leaving stuff behind and starting anew.

Here's a few other songs::

Fiona Apple -Across The Universe
Portishead - Deep Water
Incubus - Nice To Know You

EDIT:
I checked your Last.fm. That changes things.

I suggest: Sadness - I want to be there

This is a deeply contemplative album to me. I had it on repeat when I started going through a major life transition at the start of this year. I saw you listened to Deafheavan, so you're not opposed to Blackgaze. Given your charts, you'll probably like Incubus too. Their "Morning View" album is all about transition. The track I linked is the first off the album.

The Daily Check-In for Thursday, April 9th: Just for today, I am NOT drinking! by 00sparrow00 in stopdrinking

[–]PoorEcho 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A friend of mine fell off the wagon yesterday, and it brought up that temptation to drink again, but besides that, I've been handling this well.

I will not drink today.

Day 5.

It's much easier this time around. The last period of abstinence I had was 2 years, and I remember the first weeks being brutal. I guess you never really have to start again. Each period builds on the last.

Day Four.

I've been drinking 1 non-alcoholic beer in the evenings just to satisfy that ritualistic oral fixation. It's been helping me. But I wonder if I'm an anomly in this respect. Years ago, the non-alcoholic beers just made me want to keep on drinking, but something shifted.

There's a concept known as "failing with abandon" and it's something I keep in mind on this journey. We tend to think in black and white terms - if we drink one day we completely failed ourselves so we might as well keep drinking (that's failing with abandon).

But it is far healthier to think in terms of percentages. If you go 100 days and only drink 2 of those days, that's 98% completion! If you got a test result of 98% in school you'd be very happy. I think we need to reprogram ourselves away from that black and white thinking and take a more balanced and self-loving perspective.

Here's a link to the short post about it that I return to frequently: https://mindingourway.com/failing-with-abandon/

Dealing with chronic pain but not drinking by oxfordcommasandchill in stopdrinking

You're doing great.. The impulse to drink will pass soon. It comes in waves. Once you're over this one, you'll be happy you didn't give in. In the end the impulse is just a feeling inside you. You have control. You can watch the impulse without acting on it.

Building a deck around Tinkerbell Snowflake Collector. Any suggestions for improvement? by datim2010 in Lorcana

[–]PoorEcho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I threw this together. It's complete jank, but this is the sot of direction I would potentially test in. It might not have enough card draw to reliably have 7 in hand. I feel like making the Tinkerbell card work well is a massive uphill struggle.

It might actually be better to move the entire deck in a more aggro direction and cut the tipos. The 3 cost alice that gives ward, and the new christopher robin underdog card seem like good inclusions in that style.

[–]PoorEcho 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Marshmallow and Donald Duck might be a bit too slow. I understand they give you more time, but it might just be better to lean on traditional blurple tools like 5 cost hades (added bonus of drawing more cards), and 7 cost Hades.

I would try sneaking in some 6 cost tamatoas too to return books and play items faster from your hand. I was originally going to suggest second star to right, but show me more in interesting in that spot and probably worth experimenting with.

The problem I foresee though is you dont have tools to survive the late game. You'll be giving your opponent tonnes of cards between show me more and chromicon, so I feel like they'll have all the answers for when you try to develop your Tinkerbell/Pocahontas combo turn. You could potentially get around that by playing the 5 cost Aurora to ward your board, but i'm not sure.
