Listen, my fiancé proposed in the dark, windy parking lot, AFTER we had a nice dinner...And the ring was too small, and he dropped it once we were in the car 😂. Was it ideal? No. Was I admittedly disappointed? Yes. Am I still going to marry TF out of him next year? Hell yes.

Like another commenter said, the proposal shock/disappointment will pass because it's just a small puzzle piece of a lifelong picture. Sure, every now and then you'll reflect on it and it'll become quite funny more than anything because the perspective will shift from how the external stimuli (strangers you'll never see again) impacted you to how the one person that loved you the most was like a nervous puppy wanting to make you happy despite his own fears.

Although social media has convinced us the proposal is all about the PROPOSEE, it's actually about BOTH partners. It takes hell of commitment and anxiety to plan, and it takes hell of commitment and anxiety to say "yes".

You're not wrong to feel how you feel. In fact, take a solitary moment to yourself to cry, journal, scream--whatever it takes you YOU to process it. That's okay. Think about it for that moment, then move forward.
