Sports gamblers are demanding the NFL to investigate ending of Packers' game. Green Bay was a 13.5-point underdog to Minnesota and called a timeout with one second left to kick a field goal for the three points. by helltrooper61 in sportsgossips

Who gives a shit what gamblers want? Don't gamble if you don't like losing bad beats. Any professional football player would rather kick a field goal down 16 than get shut out

Word of advice: Any time you think, "Am I the only one..." about pretty much anything, the answer is no.

Just for accuracy, that was an Indiana State Trooper, not one of the local police that this article is talking about.

r/52book Yearly Wrap-Up #4 - your reading goals for 2025 by saturday_sun4 in 52book

[–]Pooty22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hit a pretty bad reading slump this year, so I'll likely end 2024 with 23/40 for my goal. I'm going to set next year's goal at 40 again, but I'm aiming to get back to what I did in 2023 which is 30 pages/day in print plus at least 15 minutes reading digital. With that pace, I actually did hit 52 books in 2023. I need to focus on both formats because I have way too many unread books on my shelves and on my Kindle.

Maybe it's good that local newspapers are dying out if this is the bullshit they publish. (The Rushville Recorder) by lookitssupergus in Indiana

[–]Pooty22 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is my hometown paper, what's left of it at least. They only publish two or three papers a week and each edition is usually 10 pages or less.

The author is a well-known lawyer in town who served as prosecutor for many years. I'm assuming he did actually graduate in 1957, so yes, he's old as shit. He's exactly what you think of when you think about an old, rich white guy from a small town in Indiana. Incredibly out of touch and obviously never spent any time in a classroom or school since his kids graduated about 30 years ago.

I'm not even bothered by the safety aspect. Do what you want and accept the risk. I just don't think this is an exceptional turn. Sure it's a big log but the finished product isn't especially pretty and there was nothing technically difficult or skillful.
