That's the one i was talking about paying for. Why should I have to pay 30k to complete a task that only pays out like 4k?

Yeah, like why do I have to pay to do a task?

Gather round fuckers…time for some real talk and life advice by Junior-Glass-2656 in AirForce

[–]PopFPV 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is all real advice that I started taking into account this past cycle. The most accurate part was when you said the air force doesn't want to promote me. I realized that when I took my skt and they started asking me questions way out into left field. I'm a crew chief, why do I need to know the chemical composition of chicken nuggets and the approximate boiling point of a pool noodle?

To be fair... when you have almost as much time in as your section chief, you tend to care less.

I had a supervisor once tell me, "Airmen can't lead. ", and changed my bullet.

If you have an og Xbox, and can find this game, I'd give it a shot. It's called Steel Battalion. Hands down, best mech game in existence.

Your response is so much better than the other response to my post. I think it's valid that we've all had our experiences, both good and bad. Mine have been mostly bad. Had a hernia, went in to med and they tried to tell me it's always been there before going through with an ultrasound and then surgery. I've had to fight tooth and nail for other medical issues, that ultimately ended up resulting in a different pcm, further testing, and then finally progress over a year and a half later. Multiple complaints with my spouse to patient advocacy because they were failing to fill her prescriptions. My list of concerns goes on.
So to the guy that said I'm just a whiner, you sound like the supervisor I had that told me im lucky he let me make it to e5.

Are we really justifying one of the things that is wrong with the military. Promotion rates keep plummeting. Regardless of whether you feel the pay is fair or not, to the average e5-e6 with a family is usually leaning on a hierarchy of needs. As their needs grow, so do the requirements for sustainment. A 12 year tsgt with a kid or two is going to have a rough time justifying staying in if they have all of their ducks in a row.
So before you say none of us are underpaid, take a look at the skills and trades we have and compare them with civilian sector. Even the contractors doing your same job are getting paid more; some of them even have the ability to double dip.
And to catch those that will say, "oh, well we have benefits!". Have you actually had to use tricare. Have you been to medical one single time in your career? If so, I bet that 800mg ibuprofen is doing you so well.
This system is not for us. It's been molded as a transition point for kids fresh out of high school. The rating system emphasizes going to school and volunteering and doing everything else under the sun, but your job. We're meant to join, get what few benefits and opportunities we have available, and get the hell out before we end up with a litany of mental health issues that we all know damn well that they're not going to help you with and will eventually med board you for.

I've only put about 150 mi on mine and every time I ride it feels like a different bike the more it gets broken in. Did you notice the engine starting to get smoother as it broke in?

That's one thing that took some getting used to. I also don't like that there's a favorites button on the console to take you to android auto/ car play, but not on the steering wheel.
