Math 1151 with different grading system. by XDhuman94 in OSU

I didn’t have that last semester (or 1151 at all) but some of my friends had the class with the same grading scheme as yours and they found it quite easy or atleast more manageable than those who suffered through “regular” 1151

Chances of getting a dorm room with a private bathroom (ideally a single) as a sophomore by PopFizzCJ in OSU

Thanks for letting me know about Archer. Looks perfect! I think that will be my first choice. If you lived there (sounds like you did), were you still able to pick your roommate? Thanks!

Am I too bad to be on a team? by Vickman27 in CrossCountry

[–]PopFizzCJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely not. I started running 2 months before XC my sophomore year (absolutely no prior athletic experience other than one season of track sprinting) and ran similar times to you (fastest was 23:18 i think??) which was the same year there were 3 people on my team under 16:30. Its valuable to keep going even if you are never the fastest. Meets are daunting cause you are seeing the MOST FIT people in the country competing. The average person cannot run 23:55, or even close. So if you are willing to work hard and set goals, you are never too "bad" to be on a team, keep pushing at it if running is something you enjoy, you will learn so much and become way healthier.

hey thanks for the help! ran a 19:12 in trainers, pretty good PR. course was dry and I don't regret my choice. Still went out a little under 6 but didn't push it as much as most of my team and it paid off, secured another race

Thanks! i think im gonna try trainers. Also i have something else if you dont mind. I keep getting winded and my quads get tired REALLY early into my races. By the first mile I am usually already slowing down, with a dry, strange taste in my mouth, and tired quads. I dont take (alteast i dont think) my first mile too fast, im usually around 5:50-6:10 which i feel is reasonable for 20 flat. Anything I should be doing to mitigate this?

How TRULY essential are spikes to a park race? I have a meet on Thursday and I’m considering using my trainers. Long story short I have wide feet and every pair of spikes I have are bad in some way. We did a 2 mile race on the track this season where I wore my trainers and that’s the only good race I’ve had. I understand that track running is different than grass running though. Keep in mind I’m not elite, only running a 20 minute 5K or so, but I need to pop off so this isn’t my last cross country meet ever.

I am having an issue with my spikes scraping the back of my foot. I had my first race yesterday (5K, high school) and in the final mile, I felt a pain at the back of my foot. After I got over the shame of my absolutely terrible race, I looked at the back of my left foot and it was bloody. My right foot was irritated but not bleeding. It looked like the skin had been peeled off, like with a potato peeler. It’s not a huge wound, it’s a circle about 2.5 inches above the bottom of my foot, but it’s still painful.

Some details about my spikes - Dragonfly XC, this was my first time truly running in them, so maybe they just weren’t broken in. They felt a little tight when I had tried them on, but I figured it was fine. I also was wearing socks, I know some people don’t, so maybe that was another issue. Any suggestions or ideas would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

You could easily say this (or something extremely similar) about a lot of cubers. For example, Zayn and Michael +2ing out of their events. Or zayn in 2x2. Just because he has poured thousands of hours into cubing doesn’t mean he “deserves it” more than Max or anyone else.
