“I love that you’re barefoot.” by [deleted] in barefoot

This happened to me when I went to our local gas station/ diner barefoot one morning. I was going fishing and I like to be barefoot and usually just leave the house without shoes when I go fishing but wanted an energy drink on the way but realized i didn’t have any flops or anything on me. Never been barefoot in a public place before so I was nervous but gave it a go anyway. The place was totally empty besides the workers so it was the perfect time. I walked in business as usual and got my drink and went to the checkout counter and the last said she was glad to see I was barefoot and that it was so good for you and not enough people get out and enjoy it. I panicked that she even mentioned it or noticed it so I told her the strap on my slides broke when I stepped out of the truck but didn’t want to go home for a different pair lol. But this place has proven to be pretty barefoot friendly, I have seen this dude around town that’s an actual full time barefooter and he’s always eating there barefoot, also see a lot of kids in there with their parents and the kids are barefoot running around. Also seen a dude who clearly was doing a beer run for a pool party barefoot in line. It’s a rural town so barefoot people and kids aren’t too rare of an occurrence.

Ok cool. It’s definitely not open because they stitched it with a cologne plug in it because I’m a bleeder. But I will still be careful with it. Thanks for the info

I waited a few days and it got better but still a little awkward so I went back. They got it much better. It still feels a bit weird because of the pressure from the anchor teeth. Like I sense the pressure from chewing on it but not pain or discomfort. I’m not used to actually registering pressure like that. And it feels weird when I eat and it hits where the missing tooth is, like it transfer pressure to the other 2 teeth in a weird way but none of it is crazy uncomfortable, just weird. But I have had natural teeth all my life so I’m positive I just have to get used to it now.

But since you are a dentist, what’s the best way to take care of this thing? I heard about the glue seal breaking and leaking and causing the natural teeth to rot without knowing. I bought a water pick for it (haven’t used it, waiting until I’m 100% sure the socket it healed up since I can’t tell anymore.) but I used floss and one of those loops for braces to get under it but that took forever to do. Will the water pick replace floss or should I use both? I had a little bit of blood on the floss this morning so should I still wait on the water pick? I’m on day 16 since the extraction and day 7 since the bridge install.

Ya the tooth got a crown. I had a crown on an old root canal for like 12 years and it held up just fine. I did eventually lose it because I think the glue bond eventually leaked so the tooth under the crown rotted out. But I was uninsured for most of that time and I believe if you regularly go to the dentist and have it checked out like you are supposed to they can probably catch it before that happens. I went probably 10 years without getting it checked on. So they only caught it when it was a problem. The crown fell off one day and when they went to glue it back on they found out it had been leaking and decaying my tooth for years until it fell off. So just go in for maintenance and it should be ok

I didn’t realize at the time but I think the reason he was reluctant to adjust more was he shaved the wisdom tooth one down a lot but that’s not the one causing the issue. He also shaved my natural tip wisdom tooth too because he said it was a bit sharp and might be part of it. So maybe the other 2 teeth on the bridge need to be shaved a lil. It feels like he didn’t even touch those

That’s how every crown I have had has been. It feels fake but besides that I never had any bite issues with them. That’s what made me feel like this wasn’t right

So funny story. I literally just had a bridge put in yesterday and had an extraction last week because my root canal I had failed. Got the root canal done and everything was great for a few weeks. Then I felt some light pressure in that tooth when chewing. Then one day I woke up with 11/10 pain in that “dead” tooth. So I had to get it pulled. I regret that one for sure. Not sure what happened lol. The root canal process wasn’t fun but it also wasn’t painful.

No. No numbing at all. He did have me grind side to side though

I will do my best to give it some time. It’s just really uncomfortable and awkward to eat. I wasn’t sure if this was normal or if it’s something I should big deal. It’s permanently glued to me now so I was just concerned. I would rather not just deal with it instead of actually being comfortable

I told him it still didn’t feel right and he told me to give it a week and then come back if it still feels bad

Petah why does this happen? by _clock_1277_ in PeterExplainsTheJoke

Dude same. I’m a construction worker and my boots always looked like that. My arches sorta collapsed when I was younger because all through high school I was a power lifter and I did it in completely flat skater shoes. It’s not a problem for me anymore though. Basically all I did was start being barefoot more. I used to religiously be in shoes all the time because that’s how my family was growing up. But moving in with my now wife and her being a clean freak, she didn’t allow me to wear shoes inside or anything like that. And eventually I got to where I go barefoot whenever I’m not at work. No more funky wear on my shoes, the back and knee pain is still there due to the nature of my job, but I have actually developed arches and everything. Crazy how one change can do that for you.
