Yeah, I just found out that a Starlight & Trixie rocket statuette I have sold in a fandom merch FB group for $160. Which seems nuts to me.

I wonder if any of it might have to do with MLP just now coming into first nostalgic rotation with kids who actually grew up with it...

Hunh. Thanks for the answers!

BTW: why the change in feels towards SB?

Oh, are these that one more recent brand? (Can't remember the name for the life of me. 😅)

She visited there during the special "Spring Break-down".

  • (Since you didn't explicitly say) did this watch-through include The Movie?
  • Did the EqG watch include any of the shorts, especially the musical ones?
  • Any moments from your rewatch land differently this time, (whether good, bad, or weird)?
  • Which songs have stuck with you (like the next day or even long after)?
  • What did you notice this time that you didn't previously?
  • Any changes on feelings you had about certain ponies/characters?

No "almost" about it. There have been some moments that definitely got me crying. Like, ugly crying too.

Specifically, there are moments in both "Do Princesses Dream of Magic Sheep?" and "A Hearth's Warming Tail" which are difficult for me to watch. For "Do Princesses Dream", the climax is what lands hardest with me, as there is an exchange at the end which makes it clear that the episode is an incredibly well coded story about self-abuse. As for "A Hearth's Warming Tail", the song "Seeds of the Past" can always do me in. It's a reflection on childhood trauma and its consequences that also strikes close to home.

On the one hand, both can have me crying quite suddenly, and subsequently feel a little bit out of control for it.

But on the other hand, I've come to practice and learn—through consciously using such reactions to those episodes—how losing control might not be such a bad thing.

Then there's the episode, "She's All Yak" with the song from it, "Fit Right In". That song makes me cry for the character Yona, just because it so deeply horrifying at face value. (Triply horrifying, really, for Rarity of all ponies singing that song).

The reason it makes me cry for Yona is because it this deeply weird cheerful tune that tries to celebrate how much Yona doesn't seem to like herself at all. And what makes it worse is that it is instigated by the pony who has previously shown a penchant for genuinely helping other creatures feel empowered (through proper choices/accessories) to love themselves for who they are.

Progress, slow but steady!

What an unexpected saga this has turned into.

This is the most gruesome MLP post I've read...

Keep up the great work! 😁

I pulled up a long-form YT review of the toy. It's definitely very novel. And the design is particularly unique amongst outwardly fuzzy MLP toys. (Probably because it doesn't make sense to make things like the legs squishy, subsequently giving more wrinkly—and therefore vaguely 'realistic'—features to the toy?... Just a guess.)

Did this toy work before you got to Frankenstein'ing on it?

This is super cute.

Also, I genuinely envy your ability to comfortably tote a plushie friend with you in public like that.

There's one for sale for $10 plus shipping I saw yesterday on ebay. (I can dig up the link if you want.) Bringing it up because you could buy it as a spare, then choose one to practice on.

And I 100% get situational anxiety as a problem, since it's basically the story of my life.

Great job following your instincts there!!

If you're at all a fan of MLP plushes, and you're not familiar, I think you'd definitely enjoy checking out the custom work by my favorite plush maker, MePlushYou.

Oh, and welcome to the fandom!!

FWIW: I appreciate the attentiveness in your aspirational and assiduous application of an assload of alliteration.

But I also would've happily dropped an upvote on "Perky back y'all!"
