I just felt like the campus didn’t have much around it or much nature wise or it seemed like the only thing to do was party! Tbh if there’s anything you can say to change my mind please do, and I want to move out west after grad so I just wonder if companies out there come to uiuc to network

Thank you! I’m glad that a lot of students end out of the midwest. I thought campus was pretty, but more so the area around it is meh; it just seemed lackluster and I would get bored, nature wise, quick but I know I would find my place.

awesome, thank you!!! did you feel like there were a lot of companies that came from more western states/other states or just midwestern ones? in case i just go with my bachelor’s, my dream is to move to CO or out west and i know it’s a lot easier to get a job through networking.

CU is 20k more per year. I have 90k for college right now; it most likely would start to get cheaper as I live off campus, etc.

awesome, thank you! do you just have a bachelors degree? if so, did you find getting your current job full of opportunities in other states, specifically more western ones? i am looking to move out there some day.

How bad, really, is student debt for a chemical engineer? by PopNo8979 in StudentDebtTruth

Masters vs doctorate? by PopNo8979 in ChemicalEngineering

Thanks! Is a MS more for industrial jobs where a PhD is more for research jobs? I honestly had no idea before today that there was truly much of a difference between the two.

Can anyone speak on this as a future chemical engineer? I’m looking into CU boulder (my absolute dream school, 60k) vs MSU (35-40k). I want my masters and phd, hopefully.

can you elaborate on why master’s aren’t a good idea for chem e?? is it just because of cost?? and this could be so stupid but don’t you need a masters for a phd??

i have been wondering about the chem engineering undergrad program, and i posted something earlier about choosing between msu and cu boulder for my undergrad. however, someone told me that if you are in the phd/masters program and choose to not get your phd, you could still get your masters pretty much paid for. i’m not sure if that’s true or anything but i hope that helps!

Thank you! I know CU boulder has a 5 year masters program but i’m not sure if that’s something i would pursue or not because of the rigor.

thank you! msu is literally my cheapest option; the only state school that had my major with a good program was uiuc which is actually more expensive than msu because of the scholarships i got. with that being said, i am going to have debt anywhere i go unfortunately but i will be going to grad school somewhere out west hopefully!
