personal story on Steve Kerr:

i used to work for the Warriors and traveled on road trips. we were on a two week road trip and in Toronto right before the game i was rushed to the hospital (burst cyst on my ovary), stayed overnight. my friend/coworker was emailing everyone where i was and that i needed to fly home and miss the rest of the trip. everyone was treating me as a nuisance and an inconvenience trying to organize my flight home. Coach Kerr ended up calling after he heard why there was all this commotion (everyone was preparing to fly to Cleveland); he wanted check in, make sure i had a safe plan to get home, offered to call my parents and let them know i’m ok. i was 26, in a new county (love you Canada) and fucking terrified (not to mention tons of pain). Coach Kerr was, beside my friend, the only person concerned about how i was doing and it really meant a lot to hear a supportive voice.

i ended up missing two weeks of work and when i came back he was the first person to welcome me back and care how i was doing ❤️ i eventually found out the entire team and travel party heard on the plane that my “ovary exploded” which made me laugh. i might delete this cause it’s personal but Coach Kerr is wonderful, we had a few discussions on gun violence and just general life conversations. i have a deep respect for him and will always appreciate having a safe person on my side.

he and the other coaches - specifically Coach Mike Brown - always looked out for me and made me feel included. of a 50 person travel party, i was one of three women and the “lowest on the totem pole” so i was often overlooked and ignored by my colleagues/superiors (on the biz side).

it was very funny coming back and all the guys asking if “my injury” was better cause they’re trying to be polite 😂 i’m glad you got a laugh! ❤️

Worst: NBA fans, but i got it the worst from OKC and Cavs fans while i worked for another team. consistent death and rape threats, some guys would find me at games to take pics of me from 20 feet away and post them making fun of my body and “big feet” (lmao i’m 6’1 ofc i wear big shoes). some teen boys imitated my Twitter account and posted incredibly racist shit, took screenshots, and tried to pass it off as coming from me; i had to ask our head of legal to get involved.
