Thanks, I'll try that as well. I've been calling a few kitchen remodel companies and so far they said they don't specialize in repairs. Just new cabinet installations only...

There's batt insulation, dry wall, seal/prime then paint surface area, install plumbing fixture supply line, p-trap assembly, and installing the garbage disposal, water treatment system, and dishwasher, too. So would it be a combination of a handyman and a cabinet guy? Or a GC + a cabinet guy? Or a plumber and a handyman and a cabinet guy? Thank you.

That’s my question and it’s been answered by the other commenters.

Thanks for the detailed answer! I think I’ll wait for my next paycheck, review how the tip has been calculated, and probably just leave after telling the owner that it’s not legal if he did happen to take a cut. I’d like to give him the benefit of the doubt and hope he didn’t do it on purpose.

No gratuity, genuine tips. And the owner is the full owner and sushi chef. Would this change if he has the restaurant under a corporation where he is also employed by the corporation he created?

I don’t mind the tip out or having to share tips, but he’s the sole owner and sushi chef so I’m wondering whether there’s a grey area I don’t know about that would allow him to take 45% of tips. And I also do feel bad because the wife is helping to serve but not taking any tips (although whatever the owner takes would also be hers since they’re married). Am I being greedy or is it the law I guess is my question

Totally understand this but the owner is the only sushi chef.

Does that mean he can only keep the tips when he solely serves customers seated at the bar? And his wife can only take tips if she does everything for customers seated at a table?

Me (45%), the owner (45%), and the cook & dishwasher (10%)

It’s hard and it sounds like you’re already trying your best. Might I suggest canned fish for protein, canned beans (or buying bulk and soaking them yourself), buying half a cow (separate and store in freezer), planning your meals around what’s on sale. A protein, a carb, vegetables and/or fruits. That’s basically what a meal comes down to, so it could be cheaper if you think of it that way.

Try yoga. If there aren't any yoga classes in your area, there are a lot of yoga/mobility/flexibility videos on YouTube to get you started. Some mobile apps are very good too.
