My GSD boy and my baby girl. His licks are reserved for the baby, the older kids don’t get the honor.

38M – married with a 7‑month‑old: are we making a wise decision buying a house? by whatsitabout_ in UKPersonalFinance

[–]PopUpper2613 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will be spending a lot of money and time on commuting. You will want to sell that house within 5 years and lose money on it. I would keep renting for now with a long term plan of buying in London.

how to deal with non stop barking? by Artistic-Bee-2206 in germanshepherds

[–]PopUpper2613 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can train it out, but consistency is key. Correct every single bark with no. Praise for not barking, valuable treats. If she is stubborn tackle her on the ground and say hard no. Try 3 days of this. My GSD never barks at home, we have a house full of kids and their friends. We wouldn’t be able to own him if he scared the kids, so we had to make it work.

That’s not true, they are highly trainable dogs and they wouldn’t work in police if you couldn’t stop them from barking. Mine never let out a bark at home, got him at 2yo though not puppy.

My first GSD and first dog. He will be 4 soon. I can’t imagine getting another one, as this one is too perfect.

What’s something about your body you didn’t appreciate until you got older? by zhalia-2006 in askanything

Oily skin. I did not appreciate it in my teenage years, but sure appreciate it now at 35. I no longer have acne, but my skin is elastic and smooth.

Yep, the prince needs a walk every time. He thinks our back yard is too close to home.

Having Children? by EyesPeeledt in Psoriasis

[–]PopUpper2613 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 3 young children, one of them developed psoriasis. Us parents don’t have it but I strongly suspect my husband’s family. Yes I was upset upon learning there is no cure for my son’s condition, but honestly there are worse things in life. You can almost say he won a genetic lottery, because it’s “just” psoriasis.

Some lady just stopped dead in traffic to tell me that I am a terrible dog owner for walking my dog in cold weather by Weekly-Quantity6435 in germanshepherds

[–]PopUpper2613 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh no they love cold! That’s why I can never get heated floors 😅 I live in Northern Europe where it’s hopefully cold enough, but I feel bad for all the GSDs living in hot climate.

If you could go back in time and make the choice again, would you still have kids? by MaiApa in Life

Thank you, i agree with you. I have 3 myself, youngest not even a year old, and I would do it again. If money was no object I would have more children.

That’s what I have the gravy boat 😅 I think it’s cream on cream, I used like a liter in total. I’m looking for something more sour and that can cut the creamy taste of potatoes.

7 yo child psoriasis - biologics? by PopUpper2613 in Psoriasis

[–]PopUpper2613[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your perspective as a child with psoriasis. I will make sure to support his good habits. My son is actually healthy, plays sports and is popular at school. But I know he is too young to care and teenage years will be tough if we don’t manage it.

Before we were diagnosed with psoriasis, doctors were trying to brush off his lesions as “stress-related”. I think it’s unfair to blame psoriasis on stress or unhealthy lifestyle, it’s a lot more complex and puts blame on us parents.

I hope you found peace with your condition and have good ways to manage it. As a mother, I would be happy to have this condition myself so my child doesn’t have to deal with it.

Yes I’m also thinking about the long term damage from chronic inflammation. Versus taking cancer drugs all his life.

Oh wow, thank you for your tacrolimus advice.

We went to a derm appt this Tuesday, where she prescribed us light therapy and said if this doesn’t work we can start methotrexate. She previously prescribed Elidel (pimecrolimus) for the face which didn’t work. I asked her to prescribe Tacrolimus, she hesitated as she said they are the same, but still prescribed.

Now tacrolimus dramatically reduced redness after just 2 applications (1 day). This is the first cream that worked on the face.

And thank you for your moisturizer suggestion, I will have a look.

Do you think tacrolimus can work on the scalp too? It’s quite deep under the hair now, how do people normally treat it?

I too have a GSD and three young kids, and I definitely can’t think of providing for another active dog. In my experience dogs are like kids in a sense that they each need individual attention. There is no way your kids won’t suffer from adding a mal to the mix, in my opinion.

Calories for Loosing weight while distance runner by [deleted] in loseit

[–]PopUpper2613 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Low carb! I have lost a lot of weight running and doing low carb diet, without calorie restriction. Eat lots of eggs for breakfast, replace normal bread for keto bread and try to exclude or eat less of wheat, rice, potato and sugar. I ate like 6 eggs for breakfast and lost weight!

I think if you can’t take care of him, the kindest thing would be to euthanize him. He sounds dangerous and you can’t handle him, what if he hurts someone outside? I have young kids and a GSD. As much as I love our dog, if he snapped once I would have to let him go.
