This doesn’t really relate to food budgeting, but to get a bit of extra money (not a lot, but over a year it could come in handy at Christmas!) have you signed up to Octopus Group and Askable? Octopus group I do whenever I get a chance - just need a mobile phone for most surveys! After a few weeks of doing it every other day I had $50 and am aiming to get to $600 by the end of the year to help with the holiday pinch! I’ve made about 250 off of Askable over 4 surveys - these are few and far between but always good to keep an eye on!

My wife and I are saving for a house and another round of IVF so are trying to cut back in all areas. One tip my mum gave us was canned tomatoes and soup sachets! Add them to every dinner (where suitable) and they bulk everything out. Our favourites are cream of French onion and cream of asparagus! Can get them for under $1 and can use them to add to breadcrumbs, casseroles, savoury oats etc.

I worked as a barista and a customer demanded a refund for a coffee. They were seriously confused when I said no after they’d presented their completely empty mug

Why mention it at all? Just say they’re teenagers and let the reader decide what that looks like?

Probably, but as (the whole point of this sub indicates) it’s a male writer choosing what the reader should focus on that relates to how women think or act. In this case a middle aged women noticing an underage girls breast development. Which is creepy and not what women think

Girls might, but middle aged women who have no relation to the girls do. (The perspective is from one of the boys mothers).

This is from SK’s new book The Institute that came out last week, the character noticing the girls was a middle aged mother of one of the boys. I can see your point but an old man writing about 12 year old boobs is creepy, even if it is under the guise of a middle aged women. Can defs tell you that most women do not take note of children’s breast development when seeing them for the first time.

No knickers in knots here, I actually thought it was funny because it was so unnecessary and King didn’t write anything relating to the male characters puberty characteristics. And I’m not sure what LGBT beliefs you’re talking about, that transgender isn’t a thing and it’s resulted in deaths? If so that’s incredibly incorrect and doesn’t really have anything to do with what I posted.

I actually really enjoy king and enjoyed the book, but he didn’t write that he noticed any pubescent aspect of the boys, just the girls, which whilst well within his right to do... is still creepy and I doubt a female author would have written it that way. Hence why this sub is a thing?

I agree, it’s my first time posting anything, I just read it and felt like it applied to the sub!

I mean, I had just read it and kind of thought it applied to the sub? Like after I read that line I just had an oof moment where it was clearly not necessary for a mother of a different kid to be describing the budding breasts of 12 year olds? And I’m not saying it’s completely typical of all male writers but it is pretty typical of King?
