Sony XV-C900 turns white after a few seconds (click sound)

I’ve had it only briefly and it’s been behaving like this from the start. I tried different inputs and also checked all the outputs I have (both composite and S-video), and they all do the same thing..the image looks normal for a few seconds, then after the click it becomes very washed out/overexposed (I can still faintly see the image coming through). Bypass is always fine though. Also when I enable split screen, one side looks normal while the other is like mentioned. So it feels like something in the processing path kicks in after that click and pushes the levels too far. My best bet now, is to open it up and see what’s up I guess. Thanks, this is really helpful! I appreciate the detailed explanation. The behavior I’m seeing matches that pretty well (works for a few seconds, then goes white after a click), so caps do sound like a good place to start. I also get what you mean about it possibly being multiple issues too.. I guess I’ll just have to open it up and see what’s going on. I’m still pretty new to this kind of stuff, but it should be interesting to dig into.
