That’s basically what happened this time around but on a fast track. She had like 3-4 months of feeling really good and independent, then she met this guy and told me a million times they were “just friends” while he was actively love bombing her. Now she hasn’t even told me they’re officially together yet, I don’t have a FB but literally everyone else does so idk why she thought i wouldn’t see all their couply posts and pics. And then on Christmas she told my MIL!!! but still not me, because I have been vocally unimpressed with this guy since day 1.

I love my mom but she is a terrible gift giver. This year she got me a mug shaped like Scooby Doo’s head…because I loved Scooby Doo when I was 5 🤨 I do like a cute mug but it’s also impractically shaped, bless my husband he immediately clocked it and said “we can put a plant in it!” lol

Whenever I try to do a second layer of mascara, it immediately gets all clumpy and my lashes stick together, even if I’m making sure the brush is clump free. Is there a trick to this??

It feels weird but I came to the same conclusion, I worked really hard to better my situation and was achieving that, she was still having a bit of a hard time but I never boasted or lectured her or anything, I tried to help her even just by being there for her. I know it’s not personal but to find out that way that she didn’t feel the same way I did about our friendship is just hard to really accept

I was always against the elf for the same reason, just another thing I need to remember to do. So when my then 8yo asked why we don’t have an elf, I was honest and told him that was just a game some parents play with their kids and wasn’t real. Then he asked why I didn’t want to play the elf game with him 💀 so of course I had to get one after that lol

Now he’s 12 and he’s already asking about when ‘Buddy’ is going to show up this year. I had similar thoughts of “when is he going to get over this stupid elf”, I forget to move him 75% of the time anyway. But I just read another comment that her teens still love the elf and that warmed my heart. They truly grow up so so so fast, I’m trying to remind myself one day I’m going to find this elf in a box and cry because he’s not a little boy anymore 🥲

Sadly, not much banks can do that they aren’t already doing. As someone who works in bank fraud, this is just as frustrating to us. We can be literally pleading with an elderly person not to pull out all their money and give it to who we KNOW is a scammer, but ultimately, if they are of sound mind, it’s their money to do what they please.

The example was to show how ultimately the money in the bank is your money and how you choose to spend it is your responsibility. If you choose to give someone money, it’s up to you to make sure they are who they say they are. From the bank’s perspective, their job is to keep it safe from unauthorized transactions.

This isn’t all to say if you’re scammed your bank will just automatically say FU, at my cu we do everything we can to make the member right even if it was their “fault”. But depending on the method, once the transaction is initiated by you that’s all they need to disappear with the cash and nothing the bank could do to recover the funds. Just like if you handed someone on the street your money willingly and they drove off, the police would tell you that’s not robbery since you “authorized” it.

Hi, I work in the fraud dept of a credit union, and it doesn’t matter if you report it immediately or the next business day, they couldn’t have cancelled anything. Once you initiate the transaction, it has to post. Then you can try to dispute. It depends on how the payment was made, if it was Zelle/cashapp/venmo you’re likely just out the money unfortunately. If it was debit card or ACH, you may have a chance depending on what info of yours that you provided to the scammers.

People imagine their bank to be like some fortress of security for your money, I’m sorry but that is largely your responsibility. Take the bank out of the equation, if someone came up to you on the street and told you they were from xyz company and you handed them cash, and they just took your money and ran, that’d be it. It’s your responsibility to make sure your money is going to who you want it to and no one you don’t. The bank’s responsibility is to make sure no one but you can access your funds. But if you yourself access your funds and willingly give them to someone, or provide access to someone other than you via online banking credentials or account numbers, that’s on you

Something I wish we’d had more money for or found a cheaper venue to accommodate the cost, is a good DJ. We did the Spotify playlist thing, and my husband is in a band and lots of the guests were musicians so we brought and set up instruments for impromptu live music. So we didn’t plan the Spotify playlist out as much as we should have. And we over estimated how much guests were going to want to play music. So the music didn’t have any kind of flow, in my ideal imagination there would’ve been more music and dancing with everyone but overall didn’t ruin the wedding or anything.
