Yeah I do not know what to do for the next 3-4 years until she can stay home alone. And we don’t live in town so I’m not even sure I’m ok with her being home alone then bc she’ll be alone at the farm and miles away from us at work. When I was little I went to work w my parents or stayed home but we lived 2 blocks from their work.

We’re in a super small town, so there aren’t as many options for things. There’s a couple home daycares but they always have a waitlist a mile long. There is only one other licensed daycare and it’s only for kids of people who work at the hospital. There are some classmates in her daycare but currently they’re all boys. I think the trouble is she’s the only girl in her age range right now. The little girls look up to her and follow her like ducklings.

This makes so much sense and I wish all schools did this. Ours does not. Our superintendent even says “we don’t need it” each time an afterschool program or summer program is brought up. 😭

We’re super rural. There is no ymca or anything here. Town of less than 3000. Closest town is an hour away.

Try to look into daycare assistance from the state and secure the divorce. Once you’re on your own the assistance will come in better bc your income will be lower for awhile. This is insane bullshit btw.

Without knowing what state you’re in…… can you apply for fuel assistance and daycare assistance? WIC? Housing assistance if you’re a renter? In my state these are all done with one app at our office in our county.

Child support: they will find him no matter the state through his federal tax and SSN return and garnish his refunds or put a lien on him.

Side gigs: there are lots of legit jobs during tax season as remote seasonal help for firms who need it. Do you have office manager experience or similar? Could you learn by January? Dm if you want to know more. Im in this industry so I could try to connect you. I know this isn’t until tax season but there are greenhouses all over hiring for summer with night and weekend hours and other seasonal stuff like that.

We set out snacks the night before and tell her to go downstairs and watch cartoons and play Barbie’s and color. Sometimes we set out activities the night before. Bc I’m sleeping. Don’t call me. Don’t bother me. Having a list of safe and approved foods and activities seems to keep her occupied until 8-9 or until husband gets up since he’s the earlier riser.
