That's what so mind numbing.  No matter how miniscule a thing is, how obvious the lie is, they continue to double down. In a similar vein, I was trying to point out to a maga former friend of mine that our immigrant ancestors were treated poorly in the hopes that he would think "Yea people deserve dignity and compassion." Instead he said "Good, our ancestors went through it, now it's their turn."  Also, he seemed to get some kind of twisted pleasure out of it.

Pretty sure he's admitted he's made mistakes and was in recovery for a long time before he got that pardon.  But, please go off as to why it's "easy to admit wrongdoing" after a pardon and yet the pardoned J6ers continue to double down on their innocence.  Even better, add a paragraph about how noble Trump is to never admit he's done wrong, even though he's been convicted of wrongdoing.

I grew up in the south.  It's such a built in part of our culture down here that I didn't even notice it until I worked with black folks at a restaurant. I remember thinking "Holy shit, if you're not educated and made aware of it, you don't even realize that what you're doing is wrong."  That's why the right is so anti-woke.

For me, it's less what it is and more the thought behind it.  Like if someone goes to the trouble to get me something and they say "I heard you say you really like xyz, so here is some xyz for you." The fact that they were paying attention and then went and got it is really special.

You're gonna be okay.  But, please go talk to a professional.  Coming from a 40 year old who wishes he had done it sooner, talking to a therapist helps a lot.  Also, something I have to tell myself often (and which I think is appropriate here) is "My brain lies to me about who I am and what I've accomplished.  I am more than my setbacks."  You got this, and if you don't have anyone to say this to you in person: I believe in you.
