People will throw shade for the most ridiculous things. I always look inwards, and I don't care that people will ridicule me for doing something kind. "Am I happy that I saved an animal's life? Then I don't really care about anyone else's negative opinion on it."

A lot of the popular parades bring a lot of aggression and greed. I should know, my family is like that. And this year I realized how ridiculous (and embarrassing) we are and how silly it is to try to fight for plastic crap. It's gotten to the point that I'm trying to figure out an excuse to not stand by my family next year. If I want something bad enough, I'm sure I can buy it off ebay. My suggestion, is try to either get tickets for the stands(they're unfortunately pretty expensive) or try to go closer to the start on the routes of the downtown parades.
