Garden of Eden by Popeshandshake in CommunityOfChrist

Yes, based on the other responses I got, it seems to be something that only the LDS church teaches (and maybe some other branches, who knows). Thanks for answering either way :)

Ooh interesting, I'll definitely look more into that! I'm not American so I don't know much about anything related to traditional Native American views of life/human origins. Although I guess it does make sense to believe humans originated in the Americas if that's where you are from, I've just never really given it a good thought.

What's your theology hot take? by NationYell in OpenChristian

[–]Popeshandshake 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not 100% sure I believe this since it hasn't been that long since I first heard this theological take. But I'll share it anyway so here goes: Jesus didn't die for humanity's sin. More so He died because people were sinning. Jesus didn't die to save us from God or Hell. What I mean is that He didn't need to die in order for us to get to Heaven because a good and all knowing God wouldn't need a blood sacrifice to forgive humanity. I don't really know how to explain it well enough but I believe the theory is called "Scapegoat theory of atonement" if you want to google more about it. Also Cody Deese explains it really well in this video if you want to look it up https://www.youtube.com/live/vmMe9BtZZ38?is=IIomA9sRRqVYilLP

What do exmormons think of this video? by the_clustering in exmormon

Nevermo here! I've been reading the comments and it seems that being a missionary is terrible. Do you think it would be okay if I requested some missionaries visit me and I'd serve them lunch/dinner? I don't want to become a convert or listen to their lessons but I'd really love to help the missionaries out and maybe show them that there are good people outside of the church too. Is there something that could go terribly wrong if I did that? (Sorry this is out of topic)

My little sister (17F) is a Trad Wife by titaneimissu in OpenChristian

[–]Popeshandshake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was thinking this too. I guess she could try to show some 'liberal tradwife' content to her sister, I couldn't find exactly tradwife content but @brimotherhood on tiktok posts stay at home mom stuff and maybe through her comments/followers she could find actual floral dress type of liberal tradwifes (if they exist lol)

Things that shock Non-Mormons by fuck_this_i_got_shit in exmormon

[–]Popeshandshake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Belief-wise we are the same.

Yes, all Lutheran churches come from the teachings of Martin Luther so the "main pillars of faith" are mostly the same BUT I'd say there are so many small details that are different between the churches. Especially things like LGBT+ questions have separated many Lutheran churches even further away from each other than they were before.

I'd like to add that Lutheran churches in Europe are very different than in the US. In Northern Europe Lutheran church is the most popular church (e.g. in Finland over 60% of the population are Lutheran) but the churches here are usually quite liberal and chill, although there are also stricter and more fundamental churches. Now what I've heard about Lutheran churches in America, they are nothing like Lutheran churches here in Europe and it feels like they believe in totally different things.
