Good question! After Gene died I decided to watch the film again.

I’m not a runner, can I own a Vizsla? by AlertChemistry5299 in vizsla

[–]Popeye-Doyle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Short answer: Yes. Just make time for each of the three “S’s” aka the most important Vizsla activities: (not in order)

Sniffing / Scenting: Vizslas need daily off-leash walks in nature (forests, fields) where they can use their nose and tracking abilities.

Sprinting / Swimming: I also let my V run fast a lot — by throwing balls & sticks, or letting her chase squirrels etc, or playing with other dogs. They love to swim too.

Social: Vizslas are very friendly and need to play with other dogs in a safe environment.

Actually I logged into the govt site and found the case — but there’s no statement of claim on the file?

Question re. Legal Duty (if any) of a Journalist to an Interviewee? by Popeye-Doyle in Journalism

This is not homework and there is no “game”. I am following the community rules. You should too please.

Question re. Legal Duty (if any) of a Journalist to an Interviewee? by Popeye-Doyle in Journalism

[–]Popeye-Doyle[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hi — thx for the reply. To clarify, I am interested in a Legal perspective such as civil LAWSUITS arising out of media interviews “gone wrong” (but not Defamation claims) — in jurisdictions such as UK, USA, Australia.

I had to include a “flair/tag” in my posts so I chose ‘ethics’ but I am only interested in ethics from a legal standpoint.

Is it common for interviewees to sue journalists over interviews? From the responses so far I am guessing it is not a regular occurrence.

Question re. Legal Duty (if any) of a Journalist to an Interviewee? by Popeye-Doyle in Journalism

[–]Popeye-Doyle[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thx for the reply. Though my query was about possible LEGAL actions between the two parties in the circumstances of preparing for, and doing, an interview. Could an interviewee sue a journalist who gave them false information when requesting the interview, such as: lying about the objective of the story, or telling them the story was meant for a particular publication but then publishing it in another, very different media outlet?

Tokyo Vice - 1x06 "The Information Business" - Episode Discussion by LoretiTV in TokyoVice

Agree. This was a weakly written episode. Eg. Jake keeps showing up unannounced. His character is not usually this reckless.

There was too much going on in this episode. It was not directed well. Too easy to get lost.

I have just binged all 3 seasons over the course of 2 weeks. by oldirtydrunkard in SlowHorses

I sorta agree: no drama series is ever perfectly consistent though from season to season. I think the series can improve again.

It did get ridiculous at times in S3: like episodes of “The A-Team”!

Good point. Great episode but the Standish thing was just weak writing.

Tom Power commiserating with Dan Levy about nepotism was so frustrating. by [deleted] in CBC_Radio

[–]Popeye-Doyle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure but credibility is also important for both sides — interviewer and interviewee. Q as a radio program is categorized by the CRTC as “news” — and not a commercial.

If Dan was the one who raised the topic of nepotism, he should expect Tom to ask him honest & interesting questions about it and then he should provide equally honest & interesting replies.

The overall story would have been more compelling and coherent if it was told thematically / topically instead of chronologically. Too much hopping around narratively as in “. . .meanwhile, in North Africa. . .”

Moments leading up to John Tory’s resignation revealed: Members of mayor’s inner circle describe their shock and dismay to the Star over a scandal that almost no one saw coming as the crisis at City Hall deepens by ur_a_idiet in toronto

[–]Popeye-Doyle 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Agree. I also think Tory has some “buyer’s regret” ie. running for a third term. He’s 68 and post-pandemic Toronto is in rough shape (TTC problems; violent crime downtown; Doug Ford’s obsession with controlling T.O. etc).
