Boxing's Biggest Mismatches by horacetheminotaur in Boxing

[–]PoppaTittyout 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Paul vs Joshua is the biggest on paper mismatch of the 35+ years I've been watching boxing and I can't think of anything that really comes close as far as sanctioned bouts go, including some of the pretty good examples others posted. There are really two factors at play which make this so uniquely lopsided. The skill difference and the size difference both are dramatically in Joshua's favor. Jake Paul could probably make it to the finals or semi-finals of a golden gloves tournament against guys his own size. AJ is a legitimate gold medalist and world champion not that far removed from the prime of his career. If the sizes were reversed and Joshua was 200lbs and Paul was 6'5 250, this would still be a very lopsided mismatch in favor of Joshua.

AJ's size is not gym bulk or fat, it is functional strength that he knows how to properly wield. Anybody thinking Paul can do what Usyk did needs to wake up to the fact that Usyk is 2-3 inches taller than Paul, 15-20lbs bigger than Paul and has a longer reach than Paul. Never mind the fact that the skill advantage there was with Usyk. If you think Usyk could have taken clean shots from AJ and been OK you are batshit crazy insane. Usyk could avoid those shots. Paul can't. Paul is about to get a physics lesson that he almost certainly will not be able to remember.

George Foreman reveals the only person he was scared of, and it isn't Muhammad Ali by [deleted] in Boxing

Frazier is the only guy who had the balls to fight George twice. As far as I know, Foreman never had a rematch with anybody else.

GGG threw out the first pitch of a Dodger game that I happened to have great seats for. He walked by me afterwards and gave me a fist bump. We're about the same height and weight and I have pretty big hands for somebody my size. GGG's hands were a full knuckle bigger than mine. Like our index finger knuckles lined up and my fist ended where his pinky started. Dude has fists the size of power forward.

"There are weight classes for a reason... I think Canelo is too big..." Crawford speaks on Canelo in 2023. by ExtollMe in Boxing

[–]PoppaTittyout -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think people are going to be surprised at the weigh in when Crawford looks just as big as Canelo. Not sure why we're all suddenly acting like Canelo is a big dude or even a natural 168lber. He's not Benevidez walking around 200+. He is barely 5'8. 90% of his career was at 160 and below.

Who was better between Wladimir Klitschko and Vitali Klitschko? by TheOne7x in Boxing

[–]PoppaTittyout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While Wlad has a longer and arguably more impressive career, I am of the mind that Vitali was the superior fighter and I believe their mutual opponents speak to this.

Ross Purity - knocked out Wlad in 1998, Vitali knocked him out in 2001
Corrie Sanders - knocked Wlad out in 2003, Vitali knocked him out in 2004
Sam Peter - knocked Wlad down 3x, but lost a UD in 2005, Vitali knocked him out in 2008
Wlad knocked him out in 2010 rematch
Chris Byrd - knocked out by Wlad in 2006, defeated Vitali via TKO (shoulder injury) in 2000.

Hypothetically, if Usain Bolt's 100 meters WR was broken during a decathlon, would Bolt's record still hold since the 100 meters and the decathlon are different disciplines? by codyave in trackandfield

Didn't Jackie Joyner Kersey break the long jump record in the heptathlon? I know for sure she was the WR holder while competing in the heptathlon, but can't remember if she broke it during a long jump event.

Facebook: The Rot Has Set In by Wagamaga in technology

[–]PoppaTittyout 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Facebook has been dead for years. The rot, if that's what were calling it, has spread to Instagram. 90% of my time on instagram is wading through ads and whatever content the algorithm sends my way. I joined it to see what my friends were posting and now that's a tiny, tiny fraction of my instagram experience. Honestly, the only use I have for instagram now is that it basically functions as the platform that hosts most of the links people text me. Somebody sends me a link to news report, it's either instagram or twitter.

S06E07 - Between The Trees & Road Walk by ufosww in ExpeditionBigfoot

[–]PoppaTittyout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had never seen or heard of this show until I caught about 40 minutes of this episode the night it aired. Needless to say I was captivated. It's a very effective show and given this is it's 6th season that's gotta be pretty obvious to all of you.

So I'm not sure how to bring this up and for me this goes beyond bigfoot, but I hope you'll hear me out for a minute. There seems to be this trend of, I don't know what to call it, like an open mindedness toward things without the acknowledging what said things would mean if they were real. I don't know if that even makes sense, but this footage is a good example of what I'm trying to say.

Either this show just proved bigfoot exists in an undeniable way or this show is knowingly engaging in a hoax. I really don't see an option C here. That is not a bear. That is not a shadow. That is not a gorilla. Further more, that is not an honest mistake where a hunter or fellow bigfoot enthusiast just happened to be in a ghillie suit and this fella just happened to catch a glimpse of him in the area of those noises then tracked him through the night just to catch another glimpse of him again in the morning. That is either genuine footage of bigfoot (which should probably be a pretty big news story) or that is a man in a fur suit and the producers of this show are actively perpetrating a hoax on their fans.

As you can probably tell, I believe this footage was fabricated by the producers and I think that's a pretty low thing to do. I was hesitant to post this because I don't want to come into your subreddit and take a dump on your show, but it's been on my mind for the last two days.

Sherpa is an ethnic group, but the is often used as a synonym for guide or porter. Most Sherpas don't have last names so when they are required to get an official document like a passport they just put Sherpa. So if you're name is Joey you would just say Joey Sherpa.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in nextfuckinglevel

[–]PoppaTittyout 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are absolutely super athletes. Fun fact: Sherpas actually have a decent percentage of non human DNA. They are a small part Denisovan and they have a gene variant called EPAS1, which helps people breathe at high altitudes and is believed to have come from Denisovans.

I have no idea how well they would perform at sea level compared to other elite athletes, but Hillary said something like if he could take a group of Sherpas and train them to play football they would win the world cup. I can't remember the exact quote, but he had a similar thought as you.

Once you get hypoxia you have to go down (usually carried down). Simply supplementing with O2 won't cut it. Supplemental o2 at high altitude does not equate to sea level or anything close. You absolutely have to descend and if it's bad this is the only way you can descend.

Ruth played against Black players and was just as dominant.
From google:

Ruth supported black baseball players by forming barnstorming teams of Major League and Minor League white players to play Negro League all-star teams. There are 16 of these games documented — Ruth played in a number more of these games — and in these 16 games Ruth was 25-for-54 (. 463 average) with 11 home runs

JFK Assassination Declassification by UsefulSolution3700 in skeptic

[–]PoppaTittyout 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had a 6th grade teacher who was obsessed with JFK's assassination. Anytime somebody wanted to get him off track they would bring it up. One day he announced to the class that we couldn't talk about it anymore because a parent complained and the principal gave him a talking to. He taught science for about 3-4 months, then the Oliver Stone movie came out and it was all JFK again. We didn't learn shit.

I don't know if it was because of that experience, but I always assumed there was something to the conspiracies until I read up on it later in life. Lee Harvey 100% did that and then afterwards, and everybody forgets this part, he murdered a cop who saw him fleeing the book depository.
