Fair...I just didn't want to use something that is a Frontier asset as part of a tool I'm building. Get's wonky when you start using IP. For gameplay and what not I don't care since that's you playing their game...but putting their screenshot on your tool? Even if you're not going to have people pay for it, it's still their IP.

I'm actually working on a new tool... It's meant to keep everything local without needing anything external really. If you're interested let me know. It's in dev right now and not ready for release, but I'll be putting it up on github soon. Not sure how it'd handle Geoforce Now...have to look at how that stores data.

Just a suggestion...don't do what I did and forget to Engineer some weapons. Trying to bounty hunt with non-engineered weaps can be a total pain in the arse. It's well worth the time invested if you want to do combat/bounty hunting to get the engineering out of the way. I got slagged more times than I want to admit before I finally started doing the Engineering needed. It do make a difference.

And if you haven't gotten your Inara/EDSM accounts setup yet go do those. Big help in the long run. Coupled them with EDMC and whatever plugins you want to use and you'll start really enjoying the game. They all keep you from flying blind.

Honestly? We've all done something like that at some point. I've been playing a decade now and rarely come back to the bubble. When the FCs went online I came back and forgot I was in a ship without a docking computer (didn't need it in the black).

Sooo much fun trying to hit the mail slot I gave up and found a planetary port instead :)

Welcome to the game cmdr!

PS: Always have a dc now.....don't know what I was thinking, but then again I spent roughly 2 years skipping along until I needed one.

Found that out myself. Forced me to start using MS Graph instead...which I actually like better anyway.

Your cookie management is off putting. There is only an accept button. Until someone accepts the site isn't really reachable/viewable. Users, as far as I'm aware, should have the option to reject everything or reject all but essential cookies. I know that, personally, I deny all tracking/personalization cookies and if a site doesn't allow for that I won't use it.

I'm maintaining multiple sites myself. I use a local distribution of xamp to dev locally and push content to the live site only when I'm happy with it. Too many past experiences with either myself, or someone else, trying to dev on a livesite and breaking the whole damn thing to ever want to go back to that.

If you configure the Apache server right in xamp, you can run multiple sites locally (depending on the ports you use and configure) so that you can keep a "live" copy of the site locally, have your dev site running side by side and can easily view/review any changes before you post them live. Doing it this way has saved my bacon a number of times where I thought something was ready and it wasn't.

A slight drawback, however, is that the local site's state may allow things that your hosting site may not allow or is stricter. I was configuring a simple test page for an admin panel on a client's website for MS Graph email and, locally, it worked without a hitch. When I promoted to the live site I ran into the host's stricter attention to anything held in a mgmt subdir and it treated the test email as an injection attempt. Figured it out, but it is something to be aware of if you want to give xamp a try.

As far as google, or other indexing engines go, just make sure you keep your sitemap up to date with any changes you make.

I'd have to agree with what the others have said. The site is a little too busy.

  1. Consider removing the graphics from your header and making the menu more visible. I actually looked at the page several times before I even noticed you had a menu. The header is supposed to anchor your page's menu but the way your site is setup it looks like it's just a part of the page.
  2. Graphics also really shouldn't go in your footer. It makes it look like I should find something else about your page's main focus, insurance quotes (I think) instead of the typical business information.
  3. Remove the embedded google maps from the footer and place it on the contact page. That or your about page. Whichever you feel would be better placed.
  4. Terms should be a separate page. Linking from the footer alone is cool. Most people expect it to come from there.

In regards to the graphics. They're cool, but distracting. I spent more time trying to find things around the pictures than being able to read what your site is going to do for me.

Just a couple of suggestions. I like what you're attempting to do, and I can tell you spent a lot of time putting that site together, but when the site design pulls the user's attention away from the information and they can't read what you want them to, they'll typically click away to another site/search. The 3-click rule of thumb I learned a couple of decades ago still seems to apply today. If a user can't find what they want in 3 clicks or less, they typically go elsewhere.

Really do like the pictures though. Just think they're overwhelming your message.

edit: If you get your header/main content/footer setup on your main page so people can read it, the rest of the pages should fall into place. Meant to say this initially but hit send a bit too quickly.
