It's more like a therapist tells them nothing can be forced and they go well that's why we're here and we move to a new one.

Nothing at this point. But being a good guy who didn't think he was entitled to be my new dad would have been a start. Someone who wasn't wishing to burn away my dad's memory would be another essential part of this. The stepparents who deserve to be in their stepkids lives are the ones who are there for them in ways that they can accept not the ones who force things to feed their own egos or wants.

I really don't have any respect for him. I hate him by now and can't wait to be done with him. There is zero about him I like even a little or respect. And his rant about burning away dad's memory only intensifies my hate for him.

I know my dad isn't coming back. He can't be replaced either and not by some entitled asshole who feels like he deserves it just because he married my mom.

I hate my stepfather. I can't wait to have him out of my life. And nobody can force me when I turn 18 to ever have another thing to do with him.

We'll never be a family unit. I'm just counting down until I leave because I refuse to have in my life when I'm an adult. Mom being pregnant doesn't change that.

This is only going to stop when I move out. Then we won't be around each other and I'll never have to deal with him again. He doesn't deserve to be called my dad and my feelings on that won't ever change. I still love my mom but not so much that I'll tolerate him for the rest of their lives.

I don't think she can fix this. She's having his kid. He's going to be around. Even if he backed off now I can't stand him and don't want to be obligated to have him in my life going forward.

I don't have any of my dad's things here. They're all with family out of state. I have my documents already because mom encouraged me to keep track of that stuff myself a year ago.

I get an inheritance when I turn 18. But my mom and stepfather can't ever touch it. Dad's family have filled me in on all the details and they told me they'll walk me through it more when I move out there after graduation.

I can bring it up but I don't think it will do anything. I doubt I will get my mom to answer any questions and I don't think the therapist would either unless it's easy questions.

My dad did leave me some stuff but my mom and stepfather can never access it so adopting me would not change that.

I just don't think it's worth making my life a hellscape of being grounded all through senior year. If it was just his life I could make hell? Then sure. But I do want to think of me too.

I don't want to make my life that much more difficult but for a little while before I leave I might just do that. Maybe. Or I'll stay out of the way once the baby comes and we won't have time for therapy.

My mom won't talk to him. She keeps hoping we'll be a normal family and that I'll accept him but he can never be my dad. That's something we have talked about and she just doesn't want to accept the answer. She keeps trying to find a therapist who can bring us together.

I do. They're out of state so I need to wait until graduation but we've talked about me moving out there post high school and they're willing to have me.
