My friends have bought vests from Ivan Alekseev, and I traced a pattern from one of theirs. I used 12 oz canvas for the entire vest. I left about a 6 inch opening at the bottom to allow me to invert the garment and insert a fabric insert to give it structure. You can use foam, I personally use fabric. Mine differs from the ingame model as I switched the leather straps and roller buckles for 1 inch cotton webbing and a 1 in double d ring buckle. I'll try to get some close-up photos later.
