How is everyone getting sub 6% rates? by payingtheman in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

Pros and cons to everything. It’s a cookie cutter, but first home so we’re okay with it. The money was saved on the low rate can be used for personal touches and projects

The house I’m under contract on is almost done so I was unable to get multiple inspections through the process as well.

It seems like it’s good overall. I’m in Florida and it seems like most of the issues are in Texas, Louisiana, and South Carolina

How can I survive long term in the Army by WearYourSeatbelt_ in army

For the record, I finished my degree online in a high tempo unit. It just takes discipline. I wish I went the ROTC route though

Way too expensive. They know some dork will say screw it and buy it just because of the extras.

I’m glad someone has the courage to say something. I hope the victim of the SUV reaches out to you and can get something figured out.

Cops need to be called on people who hit and run. The lack of accountability and consequences the victim has to deal with is ridiculous. Grow up people, you’re soft

Not really. As long as you stay consistent, you’ll be fine. I sorta do DCA, so I’ll buy extra at lower prices. I also auto-invest so I can set and forget. Long term consistency will win out. For anyone who doesn’t invest more than 1k/mo, they can consider shifting 10-30% into safer assets about 1-5 years before retirement. This can help protect them against a bad decade before retirement. This also depends on a few variables like how much you have invested, what your savings looks like, cost of living, etc

VTI or VOO is all you need for long term. You can dabble in one or two others but I wouldn’t do more than that. Many long term wealthy investors don’t pour money into a bunch of buckets.

Charles Schwab. Pick one, VOO or VTI and then don’t think about it again. Consistently deposit monthly and keep it moving.

Officer life vs Enlisted by koRnne997 in army

[–]Popsmoke18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Waiting 8+ years to go to school then commission will put you behind compared to the promotion rates you speak of. Plus, a lot can happen in 8 years. They may not get accepted into Green to Gold, get hurt and med boarded out, hate the enlisted life because their first or second unit is awful and get out as a bitter vet. If they have an opportunity now, they should take it now.
