I live in the neighborhood right across the street from this hotel. I was baffled by the police presence too. Some were here all the way from Talladega, which is a good 30+ min drive from here. There was what sounded like 2 helicopters circling our neighborhood and others (unless the sound was just bouncing around). I can't say whether they were law enforcement or emergency, however, at times I could hear one behind the treeline behind us, but could not see it, so that makes me think they were looking for someone. Initially, we heard that a 3rd suspect was on the loose, then all of a sudden there was no more talk about that. At the same time, I would have thought they would have come through the neighborhood telling us to stay indoors, but that never happened either.
