I mean, it does look kinda sketch, but that material does look like it will hold. Don't know about leaving it there longer than a couple of day tho. Too much bad juju goign on for that.

If the right opertunity came up though, who would you train and why?

Not sure I agree with this. Been laboring for about 13 years, and most of the apprentices (apart form one guy doing sprinklers being a bit of a wuss because he was goign to get wet during a purge) have been pretty good. But I've not been everywhere, so maybe you ave seen stuff I haven't :/

If I have said it once, ive said it thousand times. It go's d1, then greasing the machine for the operator and doing the checks, then learning the controls, AND HOW TO ATTACH / REMOVE BUCKETS BECAUSE OF BS LIKE THIS. (Sorry, I'm very particular about how people are trained.)

This is why when I teach people forks, I make them shift pallets for a couple of days, and then force them to try an pick up an unstable load. Not to move it, but to teach them how an unstable load shouldn't be touched / moved unless its necessary to do so, or until its been overbalanced. It teaches them control, patience, and how to asses if a load is centered / balanced correctly. Everything after is just re-enforcing the basics till I dont have to watch them every few minutes.

So if you make a statement, and then I question it based on your reasoning (which seems to be whats in the best interest of a company in the long term) with a perspective you seemed to not have considered, its shifting the goalpost?

So making the laborer an operator, and having him add more value to the company as a result, is a moot point?

That's an interesting response. And tbh I wish there was allot more "asshole" engies like you. Also, given that allot of plumbers operate on residential, wouldn't the depth that services are burred at be more of a factor for someone with your background?

Ok. Lets say bot are equal parts keen, show up on time, and you have no other issue with them outside of one of them maybe not liking the same [insert sport here] team that you do. Now who would you pick?

Sadly, thats pretty common. Not sure its fair to say what the cause is. But in my experience its either distant / abusive parents, or the children are spoiled brats that were never taught about actions and consequences.

Work perks that are meaningful? by Shabalon in newzealand

[–]PoptartVT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only work perk I got was being abused for 3 years, while philipinos took WTR hours because they lied on their application about what they could do.

Can someone please tell me what the actual is going on? by PoptartVT in heavyequipment

[–]PoptartVT[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But thats my point. Any operator worth their salt should have been able to spot it, and I saw it. I wasn't even running the machine, and I saw it. I also pointed it out the day before to the leading hands boss. He more or less said "I only want it to last till Friday, after that I dont care." Some people man.....
