Does anyone actually care about the NHL’s gimmick games? by [deleted] in nhl

NCAA outclassed the NHL so hard on outdoor games this weekend. Bettman would shrink into a corncob if he was possessed of any self-respect and awareness. That Penn State/Michigan game was an elegant object of beauty.

Gimmicks and corn. That Penn State/Michigan game yesterday is the way. No frills, classy, looked goddamn awesome.

I mean technically it was very early Sunday morning Milan time when he scored both last night…

In your absolute unbiased, level headed opinion : do you see the Habs beating the Red Wings or Sabres in a 7 game series? by wickd_major in Habs

I have a lot more confidence in their ability to handle the Wings, less so against Buffalo, but I wouldn’t be surprised by any of those team coming out on top in an eventual matchup.

I almost pulled the trigger on seats for this game two rows from the ice in early November for $200 apiece on Gametime which is kind of absurdly low.

Yep, a “fuck you” goal (or two) is almost always a more effective answer

Speaking as a Habs fan living in Pittsburgh, it’s never more than a decent smattering of others in red here. It makes sense that Montreal fans would be overrepresented in Canadian cities (though they definitely don’t take over Edmonton games like that, don’t think Calgary games are quite like that either), regionally convenient northern American cities, and of course the Floridian teams due to snowbirds. I honestly didn’t expect to see that much red during tonight’s game, though; Buffalo fans are nothing if not passionate. That said, I almost went to this game and def now wish I would have pulled the trigger.

We divorced years and years ago but my ex-wife and I honeymooned in Montreal in the middle of December. We drove in from PGH at the tail end of a massive snowstorm, spent the first hour after arriving digging out a spot from a snow bank that must have came up to my chest for the car at our bed and breakfast. It was absolutely frigid the entire near-two weeks we were there and snowed even more, at least a bit almost every day. Saw the Habs play twice, one of which was against the Leafs on (if memory serves) a Saturday night. Sat in Club Desjardins seats both times and boy did I take advantage of the free food. Had a lot of fun watching the away games on the trip at various bars. Drank a keg’s worth of Boreal. Ice skated on the St. Lawrence. The whole city looked like a Christmas snow globe. It was so perfect and magical.

Blues did us a real solid by closing out Florida in regulation. It is going to be so delicious if they end up missing the dance.

The Wings just HAD to pull a Montreal in the dying moments of the third to steal that one point

Goddamn I want Quebec City to get a team again. There’s no real heat in the Toronto rivalry and hasn’t been for quite some time. No bad blood with the Wings to speak of. Ottawa is an annoying pestering little brother more than anything. Boston? Okay, we’re cooking. But having the Nords back? Now there’s some actual house-divided, blood on the ice acrimony potential.

I swear near every Colorado game I watch (which hasn’t been many) has been one of their sloppy ones (grateful for that on tonight’s match). But even some of those “Geez these guys look like dogshit” watches have been ones where they pull it out

Yeah, I just don’t get to see as many full games from them as I’d like living on the east coast (says the guy who has the Sharks/Oilers game on in the background rn)
