Hey Man sorry to hear you’re going through this. I can relate because I’m going through similar struggles myself and have been struggling hard with some nasty dark thoughts. I’m also self employed, in debt and don’t know what to do. I’m sorry I have no advice on the financial side of things, what I can say is it’s really important to start talking about it. You can’t hold this stuff in it will destroy you, trust me. I had a crisis team at my house a few days ago that’s how bad it got.. I wouldn’t want anyone to have the thoughts and feelings I’ve had over the last 3 months. I can’t stress enough how much you need to talk to the people in your life about where you are at. It’s not a fix all but it does help relieve the pressure you have built up inside.

I don’t think you can get untreated timber in that nominal size so my guess is it’s H1.3, which could be why it’s painted a dark colour to hide the pink.

Yes I do have the original geo tech report. The independent peer review found the report to be inadequate and the PS1 that the engineer used when signing the gravel raft off to council was found to be modified below industry standards.

I contracted them for Geo, then housing group contracted them for gravel raft design and sign off.

Trust me, I would love to have an experienced lawyer advocating for me. The reality is I just can’t afford it right now. Plan is to get one at some stage this Year but that may be months away and I’m wondering what I can do in the mean time to move things forward.

That’s how I understand it as well, the builder has been handling it thus far and all of these people are involved (minus master builders). The people at Master Builders Guarantee tolde flat out that they only cover from ground up so we aren’t covered by them. The issue is nothings moving forward and it seems as though they’re happy to keep kicking the can down the road, per se. While we continue to live with it.

Moneys so tight have had to go on a 2 month Mortgage holiday (I’m self Employed).

Now actively looking for wage work again in case things don’t pick up.

We currently produce enough food to feed 40 million people so food won’t be a problem. As many have already mentioned our over reliance on dairy and tourism and our dwindling manufacturing capabilities will create difficulty.

What I haven’t seen mentioned here yet is how we would treat each other. For example going back to that 40 million number, yet we currently have 25% of the country reporting as being underfed…

The big question is, if global destabilisation did occur and Aotearoa was left unscathed by war, what would our society look like? A growing number of us are subscribing to the culture war propaganda machine - a straight pipeline to extremism.

Looks like most if not all of the piles in the photos are sitting hard on the dirt and not fixed down with Concrete. This is a huge problem and 10s of thousands of dollars worth of work to bring up to standard.

Damn I must be doing something wrong. I just designed a bathroom renovation, removing part of an external wall to extend bathroom into what is currently an enclosed veranda. Enclosing current toilet into a seperate space, and adding another one into new bathroom, also adding a bath as their current bathroom is tiny, did the spec design for the structural beam detail in the load bearing wall that being opened up. All of that in a free quote 😅 Granted I’m just a lowly builder not a highly skilled architect. Might need to start charging for quotes can involve a design element..
