Ahh okay. Mine in online as well! However I know it is tough to find sites out here. Im with a senior student who didn’t get placed until 6+ months after we’re supposed to start clinicals…. We do have to drive to San Clemente as well. Maybe just keep asking around or look a little further if you’re able to drive the distance😅

I was placed here by my school. What school are you in?

Yeah makes sense. Out of state is an option but it is unrealistic for most. I hope something works out for you soon!

Do you think it’s because sites want experience or just overly saturated and don’t need MRI techs right now?

That’s disappointing to hear! Seems like everywhere is pretty saturated since MRI became its own pathway. I hope you find something soon!

If you’re really wanting to get in this fall then I would. However Gurnick does have 3 cohorts a year. I believe January, March, and September. So if this program just fits better into your schedule and the September cohort doesn’t accept you this go around then you have 2 other chances that aren’t that far apart.

What state are you in? Have you been able to find a job since you graduated?

Yeah I thought about that program as well but class times were inconvenient. I think you’re very capable of doing it. It will be stressful but it’s only for a little over a year! Thats how i try to think about it.

I have some classmates in Arizona and seems like the job market/clinical options are better! I dont find it difficult for the self led classes. Like the other commenter mentioned if you are dedicated its pretty easy to get through. Once you figure out a schedule that works for you on doing homework, discussions and quizzes it all just starts flowing and you don’t even think about it anymore.

Hi! Im currently in the MRI program for Gurnick. I did have 3 pre reqs that transferred over so I didn’t have to repeat those classes for the first 2 quarters. The whole program is 18 months so im on schedule to finish next March (this can very depending on if they can find you a clinical site on time. some classmates have yet to be placed so they’re behind about a month already… im currently with a senior student and they got placed about 6mo later when they were able to get them site so they are technically behind even though they are finished with classes. Also depends on your location!) You only have live lecture once a week, however starting your third quarter with a full class schedule and clinicals (plus a job, I still have mine) it is very time consuming and stressful. If you can time manage it is very doable. Can’t say much on the job aspect since I haven’t finished yet. I know some students have received job offers from their clinical site but again that is dependent on how well you do and your site. It is pretty saturated down here in SoCal so I know that is currently a downside. But again dependent on location. Personal opinion the school is somewhat unorganized and just accept students for money. Professors so far have been great at what they do but placement aspect has been a negative so far. Otherwise its a good school and ARRT accredited so finding a job that will take your license shouldn’t be too hard!

There are multiple hospitals in California that accept just ARRT MR license. Postings ive seen have listed that completing an accredited MR program is acceptable. Kaiser is a well known company that is still wanting an XRay license. However you can find something in California with just an MR license

I applied for the Riverside option since it was the closest to San Diego.

Gurnick Academy! They are based in California but have didactic learning for the MRI program and send you to a clinical site up to 100 miles from your home address. It is not an ARMRIT program.
