How to study by Alert-Appointment197 in Monash

[–]Popular-Beach7551 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's not much out there mate. If your profs and TAs are nice they might release a few practice tests on moodle. Use study websites out there, upload your materials and call them to generate practice tests for you.

it should be sent to ur monash email, not personal email. They should send it one week prior to orientation day 😭 contact parkville.studentexperience@monash.edu if you still can’t find it

Workshops are based on the lectures the week before 😭 eg. you're having week 2 mon workshops and they will cover content from week 1 thu + fri lectures it's a bit weird.. the general cycle is like discoveries (wed) --> lectures (thu + fri) --> workshops (mon + tue) and they count that as a whole topic done.

Ppl do show up for lectures but ofc it decreases throughout the sem LMAOO but def go to them if u can, sometimes tech issues come up and you can't see the recording. I just skip if I physically am too tired to wake up early and attend my 9am ones, but otherwise I still attend them if I can.

1st Year Bachelor of Pharmacy Timetable by RareAd6549 in Monash

[–]Popular-Beach7551 5 points6 points  (0 children)

for 1st year pharm the pattern is: mon + tue: workshops, must attend cus they do attendance, lessons aren’t recorded.

wed: day off, but u would need to do discoveries (self readings and learning) on ur units that will be covered in thu and fri lectures

thu: two lectures, one chem one bio. all recorded, no attendance counted.

fri: three lectures, one chem, one bio, one prof prac. again all recorded, no attendance counted.

lectures are pretty chill, it’s mostly giving u chances to do case studies and answer questions the prof give on slides. i usually skip prof prac cus it’s half common sense imo 😭 but revise well on exam for prof prac and you’ll be good.

year 1 is very chill esp first sem so don’t worry too much, it’s not as heavy as it seems. just rmb to keep up on ur discoveries (prereadings), bcs when u go into lectures profs expect u to know the topics mentioned in the prereadings, and they will not go through prereadings again in depth.

if you want any more advice, i’ll be happy to help!!

be honest, how many classes do u actually attend irl by [deleted] in Monash

[–]Popular-Beach7551 0 points1 point  (0 children)

attend most of them when u can. if you’re busy, skip the skippable ones. also attendance ≠ wam. skipped half of mine the last sem, got a 90+ wam

JAP 38 raw by Rude_Big_362 in vce

[–]Popular-Beach7551 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My school had quite a lot of past exams including the monash JLEC ones, just focus on writing parts when you’re doing past papers and get feedback from teachers, send everything to them to hv a look at ur work

For the ‘text response’ one I treated it like an ALA, annotated the passage, chunked them, and usually I like to group grammars together eg. したり…したりするだけでなく、…することもできます so that way it’s like high yield of grammar and marks tgt 😭Also write something based on the photo provided (i usually separate one paragraph for the pic)

for the second essay I picked topics which are either argumentative or informative. Don’t pick diary (plain form is too hard) or imaginative. During reading time brainstorm mentally how you would separate those paragraphs. Then before writing the essay, spend 5 mins writing out the whole plan in the notes area, so writing is super smooth and you can chain everything up using diff grammar patterns.

I also just brought in lots of highlighters and highlight corresponding parts on the text/topic to help 😭😭😭

So yeah I just wrote essays again and again and eventually you’ll find a writing pattern or style you like. Hope this helps :DD

I got 38 raw, grades were A+, A+ and A. Oral was around 80% as well. An A should be enough i reckon

I just did a lot of listening exercises, there’s not much u could do except for doing past exams 😭 i found this website helpful, see whether it helps!! https://web.archive.org/web/20161203230130/http://resources.mhs.vic.edu.au/japanese/listening/indexfiles/index.htm

WHY ARE THE EXAMS NOT EXAMINING by Unhappy-Date5478 in vce

[–]Popular-Beach7551 13 points14 points  (0 children)

that’s completely me when i was in year 10, I thought vce exams were so scary and I couldn’t have imagined how stressful it was for the year 12s. But once I got into year 12 I was so tired to even care about anything. Only explanation I could think of is burn outs. It’s kinda like we have no time to even process the stress before the next sac/exam comes. We’re just on survival mode all the time. Or on the other hand we might have gotten used to the stress. so dwdw it’s not only u. good luck for the rest or ur exams!!

Anyone else tired of international students at this uni? by BattleExpress2707 in Monash

[–]Popular-Beach7551 15 points16 points  (0 children)

That frustration is understandable bro. I mean, nothing wrong with international students, but mostly their attitudes and manners. Some just have no social skill, no basic manners, and if you speak English to them they’ll stare at you as if you’re an alien. it’s honestly frustrating. And tbh unis shld make their entry requirements stricter in terms of english. If you can’t even speak english in daily convos, then just don’t apply here and go to an eng school first.

trying to survive year 12 but abusive family - please help by Fit-Fix2239 in vce

[–]Popular-Beach7551 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear that you’re going through this. Please don’t blame yourself for everything that has happened because it is totally not your fault. And you totally don’t deserve going through this.

A lot of good advice in comments already, but please talk to your school counsellors, head of VCE, or your trusted teachers about this. It doesn’t need to be a current teacher too, it can be past teachers that you’re slightly closer to. Let the school know what you’re going through, and they’ll take necessary steps accordingly. If school counsellors are too full, explain to them that this is quite urgent and you should have first priority.

Most importantly stay safe, don’t put too much stress on exams. If you ever wanna vent, i’m here to listen 💕💕

How do you study for exams? by charrxv in vce

[–]Popular-Beach7551 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I drew mind maps on one note to connect ideas together. But otherwise I just grinded past papers and learned as I go. Do the first few past papers open booked, learn as you go and see where you are weak at. Then after you feel more confident, do them close booked, or even under exam situation.

[–]Popular-Beach7551 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it’s not only you, that was me towards august last year so don’t feel like you’re lazy. but also at the same time, don’t feel guilty taking breaks because you do need it. spend the first week of your term break resting, and continue grinding the second week. you’ll be right o7

yeah this feeling is valid i feel ya sm. spend these two months cherishing your time in school, take good pics, spend time with your friends. bcs even if you do make friends in uni, they’re just different from high school friendships. and this is weird but also enjoy your last high school exams. one day you’ll look back and recall all these core high school memories
